JUNE 1913

Sun. Jun. 1st. Bright and warm and dry and no rain in sight. Minnie and all of her (4) children at Wiley's most of day. Nellie at Wiley's too in eve. Willie and Carmel and Marion walked to SS in eve.

Mon. 2nd. Bright and dry and warm from W all day. Willie and Ben ran cultivators on corn middles in morn and layed by corn in eve. I hoed planted yams in patch SE of here in morn and hoed planted cane there in eve.

Tue. 3rd. Bright and warm and dry from W and thundered far off in eve. Willie and Ben layed by corn today. I hoed yams in patch E of here in morn and I hoed sugar cane there in eve.

Wed. 4th. Bright and dry and warm from W and thundered far off in eve and lightning in E and N at night. Willie and Ben layed by corn today. I hoed yams in patch E of here all morn and finished them at 11 1/2 and I hoed cane there in eve and helped Minnie to milk.

Thu. 5th. Bright and very warm till 3 1/2 in eve and a thundercloud passed around E from NE at 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 and another passed around W from NW at 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 in eve but no rain here. Willie and Ben plowed corn till 4 1/4 in eve and finished all but the late corn and Willie hoed corn late in eve and Ben rebedded slip ground E of here late in eve with the mules. I hoed cane in patch E of here in morn and in eve too.

Fri. 6th. Bright and very warm most of day and rained around in thundershowers late in eve but none here. Willie and Ben hoed pindars and late corn today. I hoed cane in patch E of here in morn and hunted hens nests in eve.

Sat. 7th. Bright and very warm most of day but rained around in thundershowers late in eve and we had a slow sprinkle after sunset. Willie and Ben hoed peas in morn and Willie drove Sandy to town in eve. I hoed cane in morn and finished last of it by 10 and got up Sandy from pasture and shucked corn by 12 and patched a pair of pants in eve.

Sun. 8th. Bright and warm till 3 in eve and rained around in thundershowers late in eve and in night and we had a light shower in night. Wiley and Bernice went on horseback to Jack D's in morn and Rena and her other 3 children and Chunk dined here. I picked some pole beans early in morn and grabbled some Irish potatoes.

Mon. 9th. We had a little shower last night but not enough to wet top of ground and cloudy all day and no sun and pleasant from NE and no rain. Willie and Ben hoed peas today. I hoed tomatoes and part of cucumbers in Sims' corner in morn and I set a Dom hen in cotton house on 9 eggs (which I found a red hen setting on in old cow pen) in eve.

Tue. 10th. Cloudy and cool from E and no sun and no rain except a little mist. Willie and Ben hoed peas and soy beans in morn and Willie in eve too and finished. Ben rebedded some ground in patch E of here for slips in eve. I finished hoeing cucumbers and pepper and hoed some of watermelon in Sims' corner till 11 in morn and I gathered the little white onions in garden in eve and put them in old potatoee house (5 turns of them).

Wed. 11th. Cloudy some all day and cool from E and no rain in sight. Willie and Ben plowed peas and beans and pindars today. I hoed watermelons in Sims' corner in morn and hoed up ground in garden where I gathered the white onions on yesterday in eve.

Thu. 12th. Bright but some clouds all day and no rain in sight and cool from E. Willie molded late corn and Ben ran cultivator in corn middles ahead of Willie today. I finished hoeing watermelons in Sims' corner by 9 in morn and I picked some dry English peas in garden by 11 1/4 and hoed in garden in eve.

Fri. 13th. Bright and dry and no rain in sight. Ben ran cultivator on corn middles today and Willie molded corn today. I dug the Irish potatoes in garden in morn and gathered the last of the onions there in eve and hoed 4 rows of winter onions left in NW corner of garden too in morn.

Sat. 14th. Bright and dry and no rain in sight. Willie and Ben molded late corn in morn and Willie drove Sandy to town in eve. I cut down a dead bay tree in pumpkin patch in hollow SE of here early in morn and hoed the pumpkins and part of bean patch by 10 in morn and got Sandy from pasture and shucked corn before 12. Dan here most of day.

Sun. 15th. Bright and warm and dry till 4 in eve and cloudy late in eve from SE but no rain. Willie and Minnie drove Sandy to preaching at the courthouse in town in morn and returned at 2 in eve. Willie and the children walked to SS in eve.

Mon. 16th. Bright in morn and cloudy all eve and rained around in thundershowers but only sprinkled here a little late in eve. Willie and Ben and Marion and I dug Irish potatoes all morn and packed them in eve at 2 to 4 in eve and put them in shed rooms of old kitchen on N side. Bud Donnelly dined here. Willie and Ben and Marion dug some more potatoes late in eve.

Tue. 17th. Cloudy some all day and rained around some in eve but only dropped a little here. Willie and Ben and Marion and I dug Irish potatoes in patch E of here till 10 in morn and finished and Willie and I and Marion packed them in by 1 and put them in room where we put them yesterday. Ben rebedded slip ground in patch E of here after 10 in morn. Wiley and Rena and little Nellie and John and Nellie and Carmel went in Wiley's surrey to town to preaching at the courthouse in morn and all dined here. Willie and Marion went to preaching at night.

Wed. 18th. Bright and very warm and no rain in sight today. Willie and Ben plowed peas and beans today. I packed some ashes and stable manure to bean patch and put around butter beans and hoed okra and part of butter beans by 10 3/4 in morn and shucked corn and helped to milk in eve.

Thu. 19th. Bright and very warm and dry till 3 in eve and a thunder cloud came up from SE at 4 1/4 and we had a good rain with a very heavy fall of large hail at 4 1/4 to 5 1/4. Willie and Ben plowed out middles in late corn till the rain and hail and got soaking wet. I got wood and drew water for Hannah to wash early in morn and finished hoeing the butter beans by 9 1/4 in morn and shucked and shelled some bread corn till 12 and some in eve too.

Fri. 20th. Warm and cloudy and not much sunshine and rained around most of eve in thunder showers and rained here slowly late in eve. Willie and Ben plowed late corn in pocket and wet bottom of Sims' corner till the rain in eve. I planted some pole beans and squashes and tomatoes in garden early in morn and shucked and shelled some bread corn till 3 in eve and winnowed it late in eve.

Sat. 21st. Bright and warm till 3 in eve and thunder showers passed around at 3 to 6 but none here. Willie and Ben plowed corn till 11 1/4 in morn and finished last of it and Willie and Marion drove Sandy to town in eve. Marion rode Josie and I rode Sandy to Ogden's mill in morn and returned at 11 with 9 p'ks of meal. I got wood and water and helped Minnie to milk in eve. Nellie and Carmel went in Surrey with Earl and Lila to preaching in town at night.

Sun. 22nd. Bright and warm and no rain near here.
