DECEMBER 1914

Tue. Dec. 1st. Bright, but cloudy all day, and cool in morn and warmer in eve. Willie and I got a mulberry post in cow pasture early in morn and Willie made a big cypress gate at big road and we put it up by 2 1/2 in eve and Willie went hunting late in eve.

Wed. 2nd. Cloudy and cool in morn and warm in eve and rained late in night. Willie put up tin gutters on N side of house by 3 in eve. I helped Willie in morn and picked up nearly 1/2 bu Irish potatoes N of here in eve. Miss Lottie and Carmel and Marion and little Wiley and Rubie and Martin went to basketball at college late in eve.

Thu. 3rd. Cloudy and no sun and it rained a hard shower just before day and very cool from NW. Willie cut wood in field today. I cut up good deal of wood in morn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Fri. 4th. Cloudy and no sun and chilly from NW. Willie and I put our dry cattle out in creek early in morn and sawed some wood by 10 1/2 and we got ready to kill 2 hogs by 12 and Wiley helped us to kill and clean and cut up 2 spotted barrows in eve by sunset.

Sat. 5th. Cloudy and no sun and chilly from NW. Willie and I helped with lard and sausage in morn and Willie drove Sandy to town in eve and Carmel went with Willie to Mrs. Kaigler's. Miss Lottie taught school in morn and Minnie came at 11 1/2 for her and they went just after dinner. I walked in field in eve looking up pine.

Sun. 6th. Cloudy but sun shined some today and chilly from N. I walked to Wiley's and back in morn and Nellie and Charles and Carl went there in eve. Joe Miller and Gordon here at 1 to 3 in eve. Willie and Minnie and Marion walked to SS in eve.

Mon. 7th. Cloudy and no sun all day and chilly from E and rained a little in eve at 4 to 5 and began to rain slowly at 6 and lasted most of night - a big rain in all. Willie cut green wood in back of field in morn and drove up young Beauty cow with a red bull calf from beyond creek late in eve. I piled up pine in back of field in morn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Tue. 8th. Cloudy and no sun and very cool from NW. Willie cut wood in back of field most of day. I cut up good deal of wood early in morn and shucked and shelled some bread corn by 12 and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Wed. 9th. Bright, but cloudy some, and a cold wind from NW. Willie hauled wood and one load of fat pine from back of field today. I piled up some pine in morn and shucked and shelled some bread corn in eve.

Thu. 10th. The sun shined some in morn and slight freeze and frost too but very cloudy all eve and chilly from NW. Willie hauled wood from field in morn and finished all cut and he went hunting in eve. I piled pine in field in morn and winnowed a bbl of shelled corn in eve.

Fri. 11th. Cloudy and very little sunshine and chilly most of day. Willie cut wood today in field. I piled pine in field in morn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Sat. 12th. Ice in morn but cloudy and a damp SE wind and chilly and began to rain slowly at 1 in eve and lasted all eve and most of night with a SE wind and chilly too. Willie drove wagon to town in morn and carried a bbl of corn and he returned at 3 in eve nearly wet. I cut up good deal of wood in morn and got wood and water and fed in rain in eve.

Sun. 13th. Cloudy and wet and a cold W of N wind all day. Carmel and Marion and Charles at Wiley's most of day and Nellie and Willie and Minnie and Carl went there in eve. Gordon here awhile in eve. I got wood and water and fed in eve.

Mon. 14th. Bright and a hard freeze in morn and a cold W of N wind all day and didn't thaw in shade all day. Mr. Willie Kaigler here awhile in morn. Willie and I cut up some wood in morn and Willie put some more dirt on seed cane in eve and I got wood and water and fed in eve.

Tue. 15th. Bright and a very hard freeze in morn and a cold breeze from NE all day and only thawed a little in sun today. Willie cut wood in field in morn and put some cane fodder on potatoes under house in eve. I cut up good deal of wood in morn and Charles and I walked in cow pasture in eve to see about some pine near creek.

Wed. 16th. Bright and a very hard freeze and didn't thaw in shade all day. Willie cut some wood in field today. I got wood and water for Leah to wash early in morn and cut up some wood and I piled some pine in field in eve.

Thu. 17th. A hard freeze in morn and cloudy and chilly from NE all day and rained some slowly at 12 to 2 in eve. Willie cut up wood in morn and went hunting in eve. I cut up good deal of wood in morn and fed in eve.

Fri. 18th. Cloudy and chilly from NE or E all day and rained some in little showers at 11 1/2 in morn till 2 in eve and at night again. Willie cut wood beyond our field in morn and went hunting in eve. Nellie and Carmel drove Nancy to our buggy to town in morn and returned late in eve. I cut up good deal of wood in morn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Sat. 19th. It began to rain just before day from SE and lasted most of morn. Willie and Marion went hunting in eve. I got wood and water and fed in eve. Lucille and Annabel James came home with Bernice from school in town on yesterday eve and Bernice brought them here in buggy in morn.

Sun. 20th. Cloudy and no sun and misted rain some in morn and in eve too and most of night and warm. Lucille and Annabel James and Bernice here today and Gordon here in eve awhile and none went to SS in eve.

Mon. 21st. Cloudy and chilly from NW most of day but sun shined some in eve. Willie and Minnie and Marion drove Sandy to our buggy to town in morn and returned late in eve. Wiley and family went to town too. I cut up wood and shucked corn and fed today. Miss Lottie sick and didn't come to teach.

Tue. 22nd. Cloudy and no sun and chilly from NE and sprinkled rain some late in eve and rained slowly all night and chilly from N of E. Willie hauled wood most of day from S of our field. I cut up wood and shucked corn in morn and fed in eve. Carl sick at night and we didn't sleep but little.

Wed. 23rd. Cloudy and no sun and chilly from E and rained slowly all day and quit late in eve. We did nothing but get wood and feed today. West dined here and left late in eve.

Thu. 24th. Cloudy and no sun and a damp wind from SW all day and began to rain in showers at dusk and lasted all night and hard part of night. Willie and son went hunting in morn. I cut up good deal of wood in morn and fed in eve and I got wood for Leah to wash in morn. Nellie and Minnie cooked all day for tomorrow.

Fri. 25th. Cloudy and no sun and chilly from W of N all day and misted rain some late in eve and cleared off in night. Wiley and family and Mary Kaigler dined here today amd Nora and Clarence and Earl and Lila and Genie Miller here in eve.

Sat. 26th. Bright and a hard freeze in morn and a chilly breeze from NE and didn't thaw in shade all day but pleasant in sun after 10 in morn. Willie drove Sandy to town in morn and carried Carmel and Willie James took here home with him in eve. I suffered some all day with soreness on left side of my back (hurt one week ago on a chair rocker) and I took a dose of Livertone in eve and didn't sleep much at night.

Sun. 27th. A freeze in morn and bright all day and pleasant in sun after 10 in morn. Willie and Minnie and Marion and Carl walked to Lanehart's in morn and returned late in eve. Nellie and Charles went to Wiley's in eve. I took a dose of Livertone early in morn and one on yesterday but they didn't act all day.

Mon. 28th. Cloudy and a damp breeze from SE and began to rain slowly at 11 in morn and lasted all eve and rained in hard thunder showers all night from S and changed to NW at midnight. Willie cut wood in back of our field in morn till 11 1/4 and we got wood and fed in rain in eve. Clarence L and Kirkland and Carroll Smith here most of day.

Tue. 29th. Bright and very cool from NW. Willie cut wood back of field in morn and he and Marion went hunting in eve. I cut up wood in morn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Wed. 30th. Bright and a freeze in morn and a cold breeze from NE all day. Willie drove Sandy to town in morn and brought Carmel home late in eve (she has been at Mrs. James' since last Saturday) and Katie and Annabel came too late in eve.

Thu. 31st. Bright and a freeze in morn and a cold breeze from NE all day. We put 4 of our cows (gone dry) out beyond the creek in morn and cut up good deal of wood early in morn and Willie and Marion went hunting and returned late in eve.
