AUGUST 1920

Sun. Aug. 1st. Bright in morn but cloudy in eve but no rain. Gordon dined here. Willie drove Buck to town in eve and brought Sims here at dark.

Mon. 2nd. Bright in morn till 11 and we had a big rain form N without thunder and a little shower late in eve with some thunder. I hoed Irish potatoes in old garden in morn.

Tue. 3rd. Bright, nearly clear, and no rain and a cool breeze from NE. I burned out blow guns and made arrows in morn. Sims still here.

Wed. 4th. Bright and a little cool from NE and no rain in sight. Dud and Wiley pulled and hauled in the boat corn - one load in morn - and cut and split oak wood out N of here in eve. Willie and Carmel drove Buck to town and back in morn. I hoed some in new garden in morn and brought tomatoes from field in morn.

Thu. 5th. Bright and warm till late in eve and a rain out SE of here and sprinkled some here. Dud and Wiley cut wood out N of here today. I hoed in new garden in morn and picked some dry butter beans in eve. Willie and Sims drove Buck to brother Tom's on yesterday and returned at dusk.

Fri. 6th. Bright and warm all morn and thunder showers around some in eve but only dropped a little here. Sims left in morn. Willie drove Buck to town and took him in morn. Dud and Wiley cut wood out N of here today. I brought some tomatoes from field and got okra early in morn and picked some dry beans in new garden in eve.

Sat. 7th. Bright in morn and warm and rained around most of eve and rained good deal here late in eve. I hilled Irish potatoes in old garden in morn and shelled some dry butter beans in eve.

Sun. 8th. Cloudy some and sprinkled rain some early in morn and bright from S after 9 in morn. I went to tomatoe patch in field at 9 to 10 in morn. Cap D here in eve. Carmel and Marion drove Buck to Methodist church in Woodville at night.

Mon. 9th. Bright in morn and warm and a thunder cloud passed around SE of here from S in eve but no rain here. Dud and Wiley cut wood out N of here today. I hilled Irish potatoes in old garden in morn and got okra and tomatoes for Minnie to can. Carmel and Marion drove Buck to town in eve.

Tue. 10th. Bright in morn and rained around in thunder showers some in eve and rained some here but not a big rain. Dud and Wiley cut wood out N of here today. Willie rode Buck to John Chambers in morn and borrowed a fro------. Carmel and Marion and Nora L drove Buck and Sandy to picture show at night. I hoed on West side of new garden in morn and Marion and I brought some tomatoes from field in morn.

Wed. 11th. Bright till 10 1/2 in morn and a cloud came up from N then but only sprinkled here and bright in eve. Willie rived boards out N of here in morn and Dud and Wiley chopped there in morn. Willie and Minnie drove Buck and Daisie to town in eve and the horses ran away with buggy and broke one wheel. I sent some tomatoes to Mrs. Lanehart by Rembert and Charles in morn.

Thu. 12th. Cloudy some all day and rained around in thunder showers some in morn and in eve too and rained some little here. Dud and Wiley cut pine wood in Luckett field today. Willie and Marion hauled green oak wood from N of here in eve. I patched a chicken coop and hoed Irish potatoes in old garden in morn.

Fri. 13th. Bright and warm in morn and a thunder cloud came up from SW at 3 1/2 in eve and we had a big rain till 4 and slowly till 5. Willie and Marion hauled wood from N of here in morn and

got nearly wet in eve. I brought some tomatoes from field in morn and strung some pepper in eve.

Sat. 14th. Bright and very warm till in eve. It rained around at 3 to 4 1/2 in eve but only sprinkled a little here. Charles and Carl carried some tomatoes to Mrs. Lanehart in morn. Willie and Marion and Dud and Wiley dipped cattle early in morn. Willie rode Buck to town in morn and returned at dusk with the buggy.

Sun. 15th. Bright and warm in morn and till 3 1/2 in eve and thundered and rained around till night but only sprinkled a little here. All went to SS in eve but Nellie and me and Bro Dawson preached there.

Mon. 16th. Bright and warm till 2 in eve and clouded up then and rained around most of eve and we had good deal till 5. Willie hauled pickets and boards out N of here to build a hog house in morn. I hoed tomatoe patch on ditch in field in morn. Dud and Wiley cut pine wood in morn.

Tue. 17th. Bright and warm in morn and cloudy all eve and we had a big washing rain at 4 to 5 in eve from SE. Willie and Marion worked on a hog house out N of here till the rain in eve. I hoed some in new garden in morn.

Wed. 18th. Bright and warm and rained a light sprinkle at 3 in eve and bright balance of eve. Willie and Marion worked on hog house out N of here today and Willie and Minnie went to Campbellite church in town at night. I hoed in new garden in morn.

Thu. 19th. Bright in morn and rained around late in eve but only sprinkled here. Willie and Marion gathered the pears at Wiley's in morn and we gathered 12 bu here in eve to sell tomorrow. I hoed in new garden in morn.

Fri. 20th. Bright till 4 in eve and very warm and clouded up then but no rain here. Willie covered the hog house in morn. I hoed Irish potatoes in old garden in morn. Fayette Linton sold 15 bu pears in town today and returned at 4 in eve.

Sat. 21st. Bright and warm all day and no rain in sight today but thundered far off in eve. Dud and Wiley drove wagon to town to mill in morn. Willie and Carl and Charles drove Sandy to town in morn and returned at 3 in eve and brought some ice and we had cream at night. Carmel and Marion drove Buck to Christian church at night. I hilled Irish potatoes in old garden in morn and finished them.

Sun. 22nd. Bright and very warm all morn and rained around in eve in thunder showers but only dropped a little here. Gordon dined here today. Marion and Carmel drove Buck to Christian church in town in morn.

Mon. 23rd. Bright and warm and no rain in sight today. Willie and Marion hoed sugar cane in field in morn. Charles and Carl picked first cotton today in patch N of here. Wiley and Dud and hands picked cotton in Coon field today. Willie and Marion gathered pears in eve to sell tomorrow. I hilled Irish potatoes in new garden in morn.

Tue. 24th. Bright and no rain in sight today. Charles and Carl picked cotton in patch E of here today. Willie and Marion put a pen around hog house out N of here in morn and in eve too. I hoed in new garden in morn on W side. Fayette Linton sold 6 1/2 bu pears in town in morn. Marion and Carmel drove Buck to Christian church at night.

Wed. 25th. Cloudy some all day but bright part of day and no rain in sight. Willie and Marion and Charles and Carl picked cotton in patch E of here today. Dud and Wiley and hands picked cotton in Coon field today. I hoed in new garden in morn.

Thu. 26th. Bright and very warm and no rain but lightning in sight at night. Dud and Wiley and hands picked cotton and Willie and Marion and Charles and Carl picked in patch E of here today. I saved some tomatoe seed and gathered the nest egg squashes today.

Fri. 27th. A cloud came up from W at daylight and we had a good little rain here till 7 and bright most of day. Dud and Wiley hauled in their cotton by 11 in morn. I saved some tomatoe seed in morn.

Sat. 28th. Bright and warm in morn and a thunder cloud passed around S of here from SW at 1 to 2 in eve but only dropped rain a little here. Willie and Minnie drove Buck to town in morn and returned at 2 1/2 in eve. I brought some tomatoes from field in morn.

Sun. 29th. Bright and warm in morn and a thunder cloud passed around S from SW in eve at 12 1/2 to 2 and very near but only sprinkled a little here. All home all day. Carmel and Marion drove Buck to town to Methodist church at night.

Mon. 30th. Bright and very warm and no rain in sight. Dud and Wiley and hands picked cotton
