Tue. Aug. 1st. Warm and bright till 2 in eve and we had a light shower from E at 3 and cloudy some balance of eve. Willie rode Daisie and Dud drove Ella and Ned to Wiley's wagon to town in morn and carried a load of watermelons and returned at 4 1/2 to 5 in eve. I dug up briars out N of patch N of here in morn and finished them by 9 and walked to field and brought home a watermelon. Carmel and Marion drove Julia (mule) to Mrs' James in morn.
Wed. 2nd. Bright in morn and cloudy in eve and rained around near in eve but none here. Dud hoed in cotton today. Willie worked Irish potoates in patch N of here in morn and brought in some watermelons on Sandy in eve. I got wood for Leah to wash early in morn and rode Daisie in field and brought in some tomatoes and gathered all in new garden to can.
Thu. 3rd. Bright in morn and rained around in eve but none here. Willie dug down banks where road goes into big road in morn. Dud finished hoeing cotton and hoed some in cane. I hoed in old garden in morn.
Fri. 4th. Bright in morn and cloudy all eve and rained around at 4 to 6 in eve and rained a little here. Willie and Dud dug down road at big front gate early in morn and Willie rode Daisie on creek and drove cattle into pasture in eve and Dud and Marion hauled a load of melons from far patch in eve. I gathered all of ripe tomatoes for canning in morn.
Sat. 5th. Bright and warm in morn and cloudy in eve and we had a shower at 3 in eve. Willie and Marion and Dud dipped cattle early in morn and Willie drove Daisie to town at 10 in morn and returned at 2 in eve and brought Carmel from Mrs. James'. I hoed in new garden in morn.
Sun. 6th. Bright and warm and no rain near today. Willie and Minnie and Carmel and Marion went to SS in eve and Easterling preached there in eve and again at night.
Mon. 7th. Bright and warm in morn and we had a good rain at 3 to 4 1/2 in eve with some thunder. Willie rode Daisie to town in morn and carried Frilby to C.G. McGehee and saw about getting some lumber to build a barn. I hoed in new garden in morn. Willie and Minnie and Carmel and Marion went to SS at night and Easterling preached there.
Tue. 8th. Bright and warm till late in eve and rained slowly at 7 to 8. Dud drove the wagon to town in morn and hauled a load of lathing and again in eve and hauled another. Willie rode Daisie to town in morn and didn't go in eve. Easterling and Rubie C dined here today. I hoed 7 of little peach trees out E of here in morn.
Wed. 9th. Bright and warm in morn and we had a shower at 2 in eve and cloudy some all eve. Willie drove Daisie to buggy to town in morn and Dud drove wagon to town in morn and hauled last of lumber for barn and they cut and sawed some timbers for barn in eve. I hoed around little peach trees E of here in morn.
Thu. 10th. Bright and warm and no rain. Willie and Dud hauled in timbers for new barn in morn and Dud and Marion hauled in a load of watermelons from far patch in eve and sawed down a pecan tree where they are going to put new barn in eve. I hoed around peach trees E of here in morn and finished them.
Fri. 11th. Bright and warm in morn and rained a little shower here at 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 in eve. Dud barked timbers today. Willie drove Daisie to town in morn and brought Sims here at 11 in morn. I hoed pepper in field in morn.
Sat. 12th. Bright and very warm in morn and we had a big rain at 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 in eve with some thunder. I hoed grass out of tomatoes in field in morn. Willie didn't work today - Sims here.
Sun. 13th. Bright and warm in morn and we had a little shower here at 3 to 4 in eve and bright late in eve. None went to SS in eve -Sims still here.
Mon. 14th. Bright and warm till 10 1/2 in morn and we had a big rain at 11 to 12 and bright in eve. Willie and Dud laid foundation of new barn today. Marion and I got up Julia (mule) from pasture early in morn and Marion drove her to town and got some ice for Charles (he has fever). I brought a sk of pine straw from field in eve.
Tue. 15th. Bright and warm and no rain. Sims and Marion drove Daisie to Bro Tom's in morn and returned late in eve. Willie and Wiley and Dud worked on new barn today. I gathered all of ripe tomatoes to can in morn.
Wed. 16th. Bright and warm and no rain. Willie and Wiley and Dud worked on new barn today. I worked in field and brought some tomatoes and saved the seed out of them in morn. Marion drove Daisie to town in morn and carried Sims.
Thu. 17th. Bright and warm and no rain. Willie and Wiley and Dud worked on new barn today. Bro Ellis here at 10 1/2 in morn and here till 2 1/2 in eve. I hoed in slips in field in morn. Marion picked first cotton today.
Fri. 18th. Bright and warm and no rain. Willie and Wiley and Dud covered on new barn today. Marion picked cotton part of day and he rode Daisie to Ogden's in eve and got some nails. I hoed slips in field in morn.
Sat. 19th. Bright and very warm till 4 in eve and clouded up then from E and a thunder cloud came up at 5 3/4 and we had a little shower. Willie and Marion and Dud dipped cattle early in morn and Willie drove Daisie to town in eve and returned just as rain began. I hoed in slips in morn.
Sun. 20th. Bright and very warm all day and no rain in sight. Maud Henderson came at 12 1/4 and went with Willie and Nellie and Minnie and Carmel and Marion to SS in eve. Middleton and family stopped here late in eve.
Mon. 21st. Cloudy some all day and a thunder cloud passed around NW of here from N, very near, at 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 in eve and we had a slow rain here at 4 1/2 to 6. Willie and Wiley finished covering new barn in morn. Dud plowed Irish potatoes in patch N of here in morn. I hoed slips in field in morn. Minnie and Bernice drove Hal to town in morn and returned late in eve.
Tue. 22nd. Bright and warm and no rain here but a thunder cloud in sight in SE late in eve. Willie and Marion and Dud picked cotton on H ridge today. I hoed the new strawberries in old garden early in morn and picked about 20 of cotton by 10 1/2. I saved some okra seed in eve.
Wed. 23rd. Bright and warm till 5 in eve and a thunder cloud passed around SE from E at 5 to 6 and near but no rain here. I got wood and water for Leah to wash early in morn and hoed up grass on lower side of new garden and shucked some bread corn till 11 1/2. Willie and Marion and Dud and some hands picked cotton today.
Thu. 24th. Bright, nearly clear, and dry and a little cool from N. Willie and hands picked cotton till late in eve and finished first time and hauled all picked - a little over 1800. I hoed up some grass in new garden in morn and shelled some bread corn in eve.
Fri. 25th. Clear and a little cool and no rain in sight. Willie and Dud hauled manure in new garden in morn. Dud plowed up all of garden in eve with the mules and harrowed it. Willie and Carmel drove Daisie to town in eve to have dental work done on Carmel's teeth. I hoed in slips in field in morn.
Sat. 26th. Bright and warm and dry. Willie and Carmel drove Daisie to town in morn to have dental work done and Willie rode Daisie to see cattle in eve. I hoed in slips in morn and put Ipeac in 4 eggs for dogs in eve.
Sun. 27th. Bright and warm but some clouds and thundered far off in eve. Willie and Minnie and Carmel and Marion and Rubie C (she stayed here last night) walked to SS in eve.
Mon. 28th. Cloudy and began to thunder and rain around at 9 in morn and we had a hard sprinkle at 10 in morn and a slow rain most of eve, which wet ground some, for it was very dry. Willie and Marion picked cotton till 10 in morn and I hoed in slips till 10 and rain stopped us. Dud cut up pine in field for wood in morn and we did nothing in eve.
Tue. 29th. Bright and no rain in sight but lightning in S at night. Willie and Nellie and Carmel and all of Wiley's family but John went to Woodmen's barbecue in town in morn and returned late in eve. I hoed in slips in morn and Dud sawing pine wood.
Wed. 30th. Bright most of day and a shower out N of here at 1 1/2 in eve but none here. Willie and Marion picked cotton today. I got wood for Leah to wash early in morn and hoed in slips in field till 11. Dud splitting pine wood. Thelma and Lowrey Fugler came at 1 in
