APRIL 1921

Fri Apr. 1st. Bright and very cool early in morn but warmer in eve. Wiley and Dud barred off corn in eve and Willie and other hands hoed corn. I set out some volunteer pepper in garden in morn.

Sat. 2nd. Bright and cool. Willie drove Buck to town and took Sims and returned at 12 and he and Minnie drove Buck on to schoolhouse. Nellie and Carmel and Sallie Ford and Charles and Carl walked to SS in morn and they had a picnic there today. Wiley and Dud barred off corn in morn. I packed manure in garden and put on pole beans in morn.

Sun. 3rd. Bright and warm and calm. Willie and Minnie walked to Lanehart's in eve. I was sick most of morn but better in eve.

Mon. 4th. Bright and warm and calm. Wiley and Dud barred off corn and Willie and hands hoed corn. I hoed in garden in morn. Carmel and Sallie Ford drove Buck to B C's in morn and brought Pearl back with them.

Tue. 5th. Cloudy and warm - a damp wind from S and dropped rain some in eve. Wiley and Dud barred off corn and Willie and hands hoed corn and finished Willie's old corn late in eve. I hoed in garden in morn.

Wed. 6th. Cloudy and a damp wind from S and warm and thundered some in morn and eve too in west but only dropped rain here a little. Wiley and Dud barred off corn. Willie plowed his Irish potatoes out N of here in morn and replanted his watermelons in eve. I hoed in garden on W side in morn.

Thu. 7th. Cloudy and began to rain in thunder showers at 1 in eve and lasted all eve and we had a big washing rain in night from W. Wiley and Dud planted cotton in Coon field in morn and didn't work in eve. I hoed in garden in morn on W side.

Fri. 8th. Cloudy and sprinkled rain some in morn and a slow shower in eve from W. No one working today on account of too wet. I hoed around the May fig tree in old garden in morn and rain stopped me.

Sat. 9th. Bright and a cool breeze from E of N all day but rained a little in night. Willie and Carmel drove Buck to town in morn and returned at 1 and Willie hunted cattle in eve. I planted some okra out N of here in morn and hoed around fig trees in old garden too.

Sun. 10th. Bright, nearly clear, and wind cold from N all day. Gordon and Janie Chambers here in eve and Carmel went home with Janie in eve.

Mon. 11th. A little frost in morn and clear and pleasant after 10 in morn. Wiley and Dud broke ground today. Willie hunted cattle most of day. I hoed around fruit trees in old garden in morn.

Tue. 12th. Clear and frost in morn but wind from SE and warmer and cloudy some in eve. Wiley and Dud and Willie planted cotton today. I finished hoeing around trees in old garden and hoed some in new garden in morn.

Wed. 13th. Cloudy and rained most of day and very hard late in eve with thunder from NW - a big fall of water in all - and slowly through the night. We did nothing today. Willie attended to stock late in eve.

Thu. 14th. Bright and no rain but too wet to work in morn. Dud and Wiley fixed water gaps. Willie drove Buck to town in morn. I sat about house most of day sick.

Fri. 15th. Cloudy and rained some here at 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 in eve. Wiley and Dud broke ground in Cherry cut in morn and too wet in eve. I killed bugs on Irish potatoes in morn. Joe Miller dined here.

Sat. 16th. A big cloud came up from NW early in morn and we had a big flood of rain with thunder and some wind till 10 1/2 and bright in eve. Nellie and Carmel and Charles and Carl went to see creek which was out of banks after rain. Willie drove Buck to town in eve and Wiley and Dud went to mill.

Sun. 17th. Bright and a very cool wind from N all day. Ed Ogden and Irene came after dinner and walked with Willie and Minnie and children to SS and Bro Dawson preached there. Ed and sister left at dusk.

Mon. 18th. Bright, nearly clear, and about cold enough for frost early in morn but a pleasant day. Willie and Wiley and Dud put up wire on creek where flood washed it away on last Sat in morn and Wiley and Dud broke ground in eve. I hoed Irish potatoes and pole beans in garden in morn.

Tue. 19th. Bright and about cold enough for frost in morn but a pleasant day. Wiley and Dud broke ground in morn and planted cotton in eve. I hoed peas and part of butter beans in garden in morn.

Wed. 20th. Bright and a litle warmer today from S. Wiley and Dud planted cotton today. I hoed in garden in morn - butter beans and strawberries.

Thu. 21st. Cloudy and very windy from S all day and rained some late in eve and we had a big one at midnight from W with some wind and thunder. Wiley and Dud planted cotton today and didn't quite finish. I hoed in garden in NW corner in morn.

Fri. 22nd. Bright and cool from NW - a beautiful day and pleasant. No work done today - too wet, except that Willie set out some potatoe sets in Gate cut in morn.

Sat. 23th. Bright and pleasant from SW. Willie and Carmel drove Buck to town in morn and returned in eve. I planted some nest egg squashes in field in morn.

Sun. 24th. Cloudy some and windy from S all day and lightning in west in night but rain didn't reach here. All home all day. Gordon here in eve.

Mon. 25th. Warm and cloudy and windy from S and no rain. Willie and Wiley and Dud planted corn N and E of house today and some in field too. I hoed in garden on W side in morn.

Tue. 26th. Cloudy and we had a big rain at 2 to 4 in eve from NW with some thunder and wind. Willie and Dud and Wiley planted corn in morn. I hoed in garden in morn.

Wed. 27th. Clear and pleasant - too wet to work. I patched gate on this side of cow pen and put braces on both little gates from yard to big road in morn. Little Wiley and Lucile James came in a buggy in morn and left in eve.

Thu. 28th. Bright, nearly clear, and cool in morn but warm in eve. Willie and Wiley and Dud planted corn today in home field and finished all but a little. I hoed around fruit trees in old garden and potaotes bedded there in morn. Minnie and Carmel and Carl drove Buck to town in eve and Carmel met Lucile and went home with her.

Fri. 29th. Bright and cool early in morn and warm in eve. Wiley and Dud planted corn in Coon field today and finished late in eve. Willie ran cultivator in corn today. I hoed in garden in morn.

Sat. 30th. Bright but some clouds and pleasant. Wiley and Dud ran cultivators in corn in morn and Willie too and Willie and Minnie drove Buck to town in eve. I hoed in garden in morn.
