Coats of Arms are like ancient social security
numbers - assigned to a person and their descendants, not a
family. Therefore, there are probably a lot of Cadwell coats of
arms out there. Included below are some of the crests I have
encountered. Submission are always welcome.
The Cadwell coat of arms confirmed by the presiding officer of the SANSON INSTITUTE of HERALDRY is as follows; ''Argent, a cross formee fitchee between eight mullets azure.''
Which roughly translated reads as a blue spiked cross amid eight blue stars on a silver background. The cross is the type taken into battle that can be stuck in the ground when camp is made. The stars represent an honour won in battle.
The House of Names website has an extensive history on the Cadwell
family crest and coat of arms. A low-resolution of their offering is
shown to the left. Please visit their website for a clearer version as
well as more information on the origin of the crest. Plus, you can purchase some nice Cadwell trinkets there as well. The motto translates as "Vigilence will not Miscarry". The origin is Scottish. |
