SEPTEMBER 1894

Thu. Sept. 13th. Bright and warm from SE till 3 1/2 in eve and showered around and sprinkled rain here at 4. Pa, Willie and I picked cotton in Gate cut till rain in eve. The cotton was very wet and dirty all morn.

Fri. 14th. Bright and warm most of day from SE and rained around here at 3 1/2 to 4 in eve but only sprinkled here. Pa, Willie and I picked cotton in Gate cut till 3 1/2 in eve and rain stopped us for the day. Nellie rode Hattie to Clara's in eve. Ma is sick with cold and fever.

Sat. 15th. Bright and warm from S most of day and rained at 3 to 4 and rained a hard little shower here at 4. Willie and I picked cotton part of morn in Gate cut. Pa rode Hattie to Clara's early in morn and back by 9 1/2 and I rode her to town at 10 to 11 1/4 and got Dr. Magruder to come out to see Ma. I came by Cohen's and got to Clara's at 1 1/4 and home by 3 1/2.

Sun. 16th. Bright and warm from NE till 3 in eve and sprinkled here and thundered around till dark. All of us home till after dinner and Pa and I walked and Nellie rode Hattie to Clara's in eve. Ma is quite sick and Nellie stayed there all night. Wiley D. here all day. Lewis and Cousin Mary at Clara's in eve and Cousin Gus, too.

Mon. 17th. Bright and warm and showered around some in eve but only dropped rain here (from NE). Pa, Willie and I picked cotton in Gate cut all morn and Willie all eve and Pa part of eve (Pa walked to Clara's in eve). I drove Hattie to new buggy to Cohen's and back by Clara's and brought Nellie home with me. Ma seems to be better this eve.

Tue. 18th. Bright and a cool N wind and no rain today. Pa and Willie picked cotton in Gate cut all day and I all eve there. I put up rails on Pa's gallery for cotton in morn and I picked 20 of cotton in orchard in morn and Dixie and Rena picked there awhile in morn. Dixie rode Hattie to Clara's in eve and Ma seems better.

Wed. 19th. Bright, nearly clear and cool from N. Pa, Willie and I picked cotton all morn in Gate cut and Dixie and Rena picked there awhile in morn and Pa picked there in eve and Willie picked in orchard. I rode Hattie to Cohen's to see about ginning and came back by Clara's in eve. Ma seems better.

Thu. 20th. Bright and pleasant. Cohen sent 4 wagons early in morn and carried 4 bales of my cotton (all picked) to their gin and I rode Hattie and went and they got through with it and brought seed back in 3 wagons in eve. The 4 bales weighed 428, 490, 492, and 513 and I sold 3 of them at 6 cts. and 1 at 5 1/2. I came home by Clara's late in eve. Pa picked cotton today and Willie rode Joe to Uncle Gus' to Cousin Gus' house raising and returned at 8 1/4 at night.

Fri. 21st. Bright and pleasant but some clouds and warmer. Pa, Willie and I picked cotton in theirs by wire fence in new SW corner in morn and Pa in Gate cut and Willie and I in orchard in eve. Nellie and Helen walked to Estina in eve.

Sat. 22nd. Bright but cloudy some and warm from S. Pa. Willie and I picked cotton in new SW corner all morn. Pa and I gathered some pecans in eve at 1 to 2 1/2 and I gathered some later in eve after getting some corn from field.

Sun. 23rd. Bright and warm but showered around some in eve and sprinkled here and rained a hard shower at Clara's. I rode Hattie to Estina at 8 1/2 to 11 in morn. Mrs. Baker and Gussie and Helen dined here. Pa and I walked to Clara's in eve and got wet with grass coming home. Dixie and Rena drove Hattie to Ogden's in eve.

Mon.24th. Bright and warm till 3 in eve and rained a hard shower here from NE at 4 to 5. Pa, Willie and I picked cotton in new SW corner all morn and Pa in Gate cut and Willie and I in orchard in eve till 4 and rain stopped us then. Dixie and Rena picked cotton by front gate on E side awhile in morn.

Tue. 25th. Bright and cool from N. Pa, Willie and I picked cotton in new SW corner all morn and Dixie and Rena picked by front gate on E side. Willie and I picked in orchard and Pa in Gate cut in eve.

Wed. 26th. Clear and a cool night - wind all day. Pa, Willie and I picked cotton all morn in new SW corner and Dixie and Rena picked by front gate part of morn. Pa picked in Gate cut in eve and Willie and I in NE side of orchard. Dixie and Rena walked to Estina in eve.

Thu. 27th. Clear and cool from N. Willie and I picked cotton all morn in new SW corner and Willie picked in orchard in eve. Pa sick in bed all day with fever. Nellie and I drove Hattie to Cohen's in eve and got some medicine for Pa and some other things.

Fri. 28th. Clear and cool from N and beautiful and pleasant weather. Willie and I picked cotton in new SW corner all morn and in orchard all eve. Pa got up just after dinner and better.

Sat. 29th. Bright and pleasant. Willie and I picked cotton all morn in new SW corner and Pa picked there awhile in morn. Pa rode Hattie to Clara's in eve. I gathered few pecans and got some wood and corn in eve.

Sun. 30th. Bright and pleasant. Dixie and Rena drove Hattie to town to Methodist Church in morn and I rode Hattie to Clara's in eve. Mrs. Baker and Wiley DeLoach dined here.
