OCTOBER 1920

Fri. Oct. 1st. Clear and nearly cold enough for frost in morn and wind from N all day. Willie and Dud and Wiley hauled 3 loads of corn from Coon field and hauled in cotton late in eve and loaded up wagon with cotton to take to gin tomorrow by dark. I gathered pecans most of day.

Sat. 2nd. Clear and nearly cold enough for frost in morn but wind from E and warmer in eve. Wiley carried a load of cotton to gin in town in morn and returned at 3 in eve. Willie drove Buck to town in morn and returned in eve. I grabbled some yams in morn and gathered pecans most of day.

Sun. 3rd. Bright but some clouds and wind from E and warmer. I brought some tomatoes from field in morn. All home all day.

Mon. 4th. Bright and cool. Willie and Wiley and Joe and Bap hauled 3 loads of corn from Coon field today. I brought 5 canes from field in morn and gathered pecans most of day. West dined here today. Nellie and Minnie drove Buck to town in eve. Dud is sick in bed. Carmel taught school today.

Tue. 5th. Bright and cool. Willie and Wiley and Joe and Bap hauled in 4 loads of corn today. Dud still sick. I grabbled some yams early in morn and gathered pecans most of day.

Wed. 6th. Clear and cool. Willie and Wiley and Joe and Bap pulled and hauled in corn today. Dud still sick. I gathered pecans most of day.

Thu. 7th. Clear and cool from NE. Willie and Wiley and Joe and Bap pulled and hauled in corn today. I grabbled some yams early in morn and gathered pecans most of day. Dud still sick.

Fri. 8th. Clear and cool and very dry. Willie and Wiley and Joe and Bap hauled in corn all day. Dud still sick. I shelled one bu bread corn and gathered pecans today.

Sat. 9th. Clear and cool and dry. Willie and hands dipped cattle early in morn and Willie rode Sandy and Carmel and Charles and Carl drove Buck to town in morn and returned at 3 in eve. I grabbled some yams early in morn and picked up pecans in morn and in eve too.

Sun. 10th. Clear and cool and dry. Ben Ford and his 2 little children and Gordon here most of day.

Mon. 11th. Clear and cool and dry but wind from SE. Willie and Wiley and Joe and Bap pulled and hauled in corn from home field today. I picked up pecans most of day.

Tue. 12th. Bright and wind from SE all day and dropped rain a little at dark and good deal warmer. Willie and Wiley and Joe and Bap pulled and hauled in corn. I picked up pecans most of day.

Wed. 13th. Bright and warm from SE and no rain in sight. Willie and Wiley and boys pulled and hauled in corn today. I picked up pecans most of day.

Thu. 14th. Bright and warm and no rain in sight. Willie and Wiley and boys pulled and hauled in corn. I picked up pecans today.

Fri. 15th. Cloudy and windy from SE in morn and bright in eve and no rain. Willie and Dud and Wiley and Joe and Bap pulled and hauled in corn all day and finished and hauled in peas by dark. I picked up pecans most of day.

Sat. 16th. Bright, but cloudy some, and wind from SE and no rain. Willie drove Buck to town in morn and Wiley and Dud drove wagon to town to mill in morn and all returned in eve. I picked up pecans in morn.

Sun. 17th. Bright and warm and very dry and no rain in sight. All home today and all but Nellie and me went to SS in eve and Bro Dawson preached there. I was sick today.

Mon. 18th. Bright and warm and very dry and no rain in sight. Dud and Wiley and hands picked peas today and hauled them late in eve. I was sick today but picked up pecans most of day after grabbling potatoes early in morn.

Tue. 19th. Bright and warm and very dry. Dud and Wiley and hands picked peas today and hauled them late in eve. I gathered pecans most of day.

Wed. 20th. Bright and very warm and dry from SE. Wiley and other hands picked peas and hauled them late in eve. Dud went to see Dr. Catchings in morn. He is sick. I gathered pecans most of day.

Thu. 21st. Bright and warm and very dry. Wiley and other hands picked peas and hauled them late in eve. I picked up pecans most of day.

Fri. 22nd. Bright but cloudy some in eve and rained a slow sprinkle in eve. Wiley and hands picked peas and hauled them late in eve. Minnie and Charles and Carl drove Buck to Wiley's in eve. I grabbled some yams early in morn and picked up some pecans most of day.

Sat. 23rd. Cloudy and warm from SE in morn and rained in little showers some and a thunder cloud came up from NW early in eve and we had a good rain till 4 - and needed too - and we had another in night too. I picked up pecans today.

Sun. 24th. Cloudy and no sun and sprinkled rain some in morn and rained most of eve - a big rain in all - and quit just before night. We looked for Minnie and children all eve to return from Wiley's but she didn't come.

Mon. 25th. Bright but cloudy some all day and rained some in night. The hands didn't pick peas today on account of being wet. I picked up pecans today.

Tue. 26th. Cloudy and calm and warm but no rain. Willie drove Buck to town in morn and returned late in eve. I grabbled some yams early in morn and picked up pecans.

Wed. 27th. Bright and windy and very cool from W or N all day. Mrs. Johnson and mother came in a car in morn and got some fig trees. I packed ashes in garden and set out some white onions there in morn and picked up pecans in eve. Willie cut some seed cane today.

Thu. 28th. Bright, nearly clear, and very cool from W of N all day. Wiley and hands picked peas today and finished and hauled them late in eve. I packed ashes in new garden and dug some Irish potatoes there in morn.

Fri. 29th. Bright and nearly cold enough for frost in morn but warmer in eve. Willie and Wiley and Joe and Bap dug potatoes in field and hauled them in 2 loads late in eve. I was sick today and didn't drink any coffee late in eve.

Sat. 30th. Bright and very cool early in morn but wind from SE and warmer in eve and cloudy at night. Willie and Carmel drove Buck to town in morn and returned in eve. Dud drove wagon to town in morn. I set out 3 rows of strawberries in new garden in morn and watered them in eve.

Sun. 31st. Cloudy and cool but wind from SE and dropped rain a little in night. Carmel and Ernest and little Mary rode on horseback to Bro Tom's in morn and returned at 1 in eve and Ernest and Carmel drove Buck to church in town and little Mary and her papa went too at night.
