NOVEMBER 1920

Mon. Nov. 1st. Began to rain in little showers from SE early in morn and lasted all day and poured down most of eve and till in night before it quit - a very big fall of water in all. Carmel taught school today but Willie went in buggy for her in eve. Annie and Hattie didn't come today.

Tue. 2nd. Bright and very cool from N. Willie rode Buck to Turnbull's to election in morn and returned at 2 in eve. I dug some of Irish potatoes in old garden in morn but they are very poor. Annie and Hattie came for school in morn.

Wed. 3rd. Bright and very cool early in morn but pleasant in sun after 10 in morn. Willie and Wiley and Dud and Joe cut and stripped cane in field today. I manured and fixed 2 rows in new garden in morn and set out the 2 rows in strawberry plants in morn and watered them in eve and got wood.

Thu. 4th. Clear and nearly cold enough for frost in morn but pleasant in sunshine. Willie and Wiley and Joe cut cane today. Mary washed here today. I set out one row of strawberries in garden and watered them and finished digging Irish potatoes in old garden.

Fri. 5th. Bright and nearly cold enough for frost in morn but pleasant in sun after 10 in morn. Willie and Wiley and Joe cut cane today. I set out one row of strawberries making 6 in all in new garden and finished them.

Sat. 6th. Bright and very cool early in morn but warmer in eve. Willie and Carmel drove Buck to town in morn and returned late in eve. Dud and Wiley drove wagon to town in morn to mill and returned at sunset with some coal for school house. I hoed up some ground on East side of new garden and sowed some mustard there in morn.

Sun. 7th. Bright and pleasant. Bro Tom came in morn and here till late in eve and little Hattie went home with him but Annie didn't go.

Mon. 8th. Bright and warm and calm. Willie and Dud and Wiley and Joe dug potatoes in field and finished and hauled in last of them by dusk. I hoed turnips in new garden and dug around hills of strawberries lately set out there.

Tue. 9th. Bright and warm. Dud and Wiley dug their potatoes. Willie found his hogs in McDonald's field in morn. I patched a pair of old pants in morn.

Wed. 10th. Bright and warm. Willie and Wiley hauled cane to Lewis' mill from back of our field all day. I chopped pine in field in morn.

Thu. 11th. Cloudy and very cool from N all day. Willie at Lewis' mill most of day. Lewis cooked our molasses and Wiley hauled cane and wood to mill all day. Dud is sick in bed. I chopped pine in field in morn.

Fri. 12th. Bright and a very cold wind from E of N all day. Willie at mill all day and Wiley hauled wood and cane to mill in morn and drove wagon to town in eve and got some cans. I chopped pine in field in morn.

Sat. 13th. Bright and ice in morn and a cold wind from E of N all day. Willie and Wiley and Joe at mill all day and Lewis cooking. I sat about house all day unwell.

Sun. 14th. Cloudy and cold from N and began to rain from N at 12 and lasted all eve and part of night and very chilly. Dr. Catchings came out to see Dud at 11 to 12 today.

Mon. 15th. Cloudy and very chilly from N all day. Willie and Wiley and Joe at Lewis' mill all day. I cut up wood in morn and got wood and fed in eve.

Tue. 16th. Bright but cloudy some and very chilly wind from N all day and clear at night and a hard freeze. Willie and Wiley and Joe at mill all day and Lewis cooked our molasses. I sat in house most of day not well.

Wed. 17th. Bright but cloudy some and a hard freeze and white frost in morn but warmer in eve. Willie and Wiley and Joe finished our molasses and brought last of it home by 12 1/2 today and Willie and Minnie and Carmel and Annie went to Miss Lucy Chambers' burying in eve.

Thu. 18th. Clear and a white frost and freeze in morn but calm and turned warmer today. Willie hunted his hogs in morn and found them in McDonald's field. I chopped pine in field in morn and set 9 eggs under a red hen at hay house in eve.

Fri. 19th. Clear and a slight freeze in morn but calm and pleasant in sunshine. Willie and Nellie drove Buck to town in morn and returned after sunset. Lewis ground cane with our mules today. I chopped pine in field in morn.

Sat. 20th. Bright and nearly cold enough for frost in morn. Carmel and Carl and Charles drove Buck to town in morn and returned early in eve. I chopped pine in field in morn.

Sun. 21st. Bright and very cool early in morn but a pleasant day. I arose at 20 minutes to 3 in morn with nose bleeding and sick stomach. Mrs. James and all of her family came in a car in morn and Lucile and Mattie and Willie and Carmel went to schoolhouse in eve in car and Bro Dawson preached there.

Mon. 22nd. It rained some last night and bright and very cool from N all day. Willie cut some wood at back of field today. Wiley Woods and Joe went on river last night. I set out gaps in new strawberries in new garden in morn.

Tue. 23rd. Bright and frost in morn but a pleasant day. Willie cut wood in morn at back of field and I chopped pine in field. Wiley and Rena came in morn and left late in eve.

Wed. 24th. Bright, nearly clear, and very cool and a beautiful and pleasant day. Willie drove Buck to town in morn and returned late in eve. I chopped pine in field in morn. Carmel turned out her school early and brought all of her scholars home with her and they played awhile in yard and Mrs. Lanehart here too and Cap D came for Annie and Hattie. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day.

Thu. 25th. Bright, nearly clear, and a pleasant day. Willie drove Buck to town in morn and carried Carmel to meet Lucile in town and go on to Mrs. James' and he returned at 12 1/2 and he and Charles and Carl went hunting in eve. I chopped pine in field in morn.

Fri. 26th. Cloudy and rained some in morn and began to rain in eve from S of E and lasted most of night - a big rain in all. Willie cut wood out back of field in morn and hunted his hogs in eve. I chopped pine out of a stump in field in morn.

Sat. 27th. Cloudy and a cold wind from N all day. Willie drove Buck to town in morn and carried some cans of molasses. I was in house most of morn on account of cold and wet.

Sun. 28th. Foggy and chilly most of morn and clear and pleasant in eve. Nellie and Minnie drove Buck to see Miss Carrie Chambers in eve. Gordon here in eve. Ernest brought Carmel from town after dark - she has been at Mrs. James' since last Thursday.

Mon. 29th. It rained till 9 in morn and quit and bright and very cool from NW balance of day. Carmel taught school today. Willie cut wood back of field in eve. I chopped on a pine stump in field in eve.

Tue. 30th. Clear and a freeze in morn and wind cold from W all day but pleasant in sun after 10 in morn. Willie cut wood at back of field today. I chopped pine out of a stump in field in morn. I was sick most of day. Little Wiley and Lucile James came late in eve.
