NOVEMBER 1919

Sat. Nov. 1st. It rained in little showers form N and NW most of day and wind changed to NW at 3 in eve and cool at night. Willie drove Mike mule to buggy to town in morn and returned late in eve. I picked up pecans most of day.

Sun. 2nd. Bright and cool from N and no rain in sight. Willie and Minnie and Charles and Carl and Lucile walked to SS in eve.

Mon. 3rd. Cool and foggy and wet early in morn and bright and warmer in eve from SW. Willie and I gathered pecans in morn and Willie hauled in peas from Coon field in eve and finished last of peas.

Tue. 4th. Bright and cool early in morn but warm in eve and cloudy some. Dud and Wiley and hands picked cotton today. Willie rode Sandy to Surgett's to get wagons to haul Middleton's cotton seed to town on tomorrow in morn. I hoed strawberries and planted some mustard in new garden in morn and picked up 1 p'k of pecans in morn and in eve too.

Wed. 5th. Bright and warm. Dud drove our wagon and Fayette Linton and another man drove their wagons and made 2 trips to town and carried all of Middleton's cotton seed and 2 bbls of pecans to town today. I dug some of Irish potatoes in new garden in morn and picked up some pecans too in morn and in eve.

Thu. 6th. Bright and warm and no rain in sight. Willie drove Sandy to town in morn and returned late in eve. Dud and Wiley and hands finished picking cotton in morn and dug Dud's potatoes in eve. I dug Irish potatoes in new garden in morn and picked up pecans in eve. I moved my 4 bbls of clothes and seeds out of potatoe room and put in gallery room.

Fri. 7th. Bright and warm and no rain in sight. Dud and Wiley dug Wiley's potatoes in morn and hauled in cotton in eve and they and Willie cut seed cane in eve and loaded wagon with cotton for ginning tomorrow. I dug Irish potatoes in new garden in morn and finished them and picked up pecans in eve.

Sat. 8th. Bright but cloudy some all day and rained a good hard shower here late in eve from S and quite warm all day. Dud drove wagon and carried a load of cotton to gin and Willie drove Sandy and carried Charles and Carl to town in morn and all returned late in eve. I gathered pecans most of day and got about one p'k.

Sun. 9th. Cloudy and began to rain from SE at 10 in morn with a hard wind and lasted all eve and all night - a big fall of water in all.

Mon. 10th. Cloudy and rained slowly all day and wind very cool from N and cleared off just after dark. Willie and I picked up pecans in morn - more than 1/2 bu. The wind on yesterday and last night blew nearly all off the trees. Luster James brought Lucile at 2 in eve and went back home late in eve.

Tue. 11th. Clear and cool from N. Willie drove Sandy to town in morn. Dud and Wiley cut cane in hollow in big field in eve and they and Willie loaded wagon with cotton late in eve. I picked up nearly 1/2 bu of pecans today.

Wed. 12th. Bright and cool. Willie drove Sandy and Wiley drove our wagon and Tobe Stewart his wagon and carried last of our cotton to town and got it ginned and sold and returned late in eve. I picked up pecans most of day.

Thu. 13th. Bright and a cold wind from N all day and a killing freeze at night. Dud and Wiley cut and stripped cane today. Willie cut cane in morn and hunted cattle and hogs in eve. I picked up pecans in morn and brought all of green tomatoes to house in eve.

Fri. 14th. Clear and a killing freeze in morn and a cold wind from N all day. Dud and Wiley cut and stripped cane all day. Willie hunted hogs and cattle most of day and hauled some beech wood from woods N of here in eve. I picked up pecans most of day.

Sat. 15th. Bright and a little frost in morn and a pleasant day. Willie drove Sandy to town in morn and returned late in eve. Dud and Wiley and their wives drove wagon to town in morn and returned at dark. I picked up pecans in morn and gave little Lee Chambers 1/2 bu of pecans late in eve. Carmel came home late yesterday eve.

Sun. 16th. Bright and very cool in morn but a pleasant day after 10 in morn. Willie drove the mules to new buggy and carried Carmel to Ford's to teach school early in morn and returned after dark. Minnie and Lucile and Charles and Carl walked to SS in eve and Bro Dawson preached there.

Mon. 17th. Clear and very cool and wind from N and a pleasant day after 10 in morn. Dud plowed up potatoes in patch E of here and Willie and Wiley and Joe picked up potatoes there and finished hauling in all in that patch just after sunset. I picked up pecans in morn and moved all of bbls out of potatoe room in eve.

Tue. 18th. Clear and cool and dry. Willie and Dud and Wiley and Joe dug potatoes in patch N of here today. I hoed strawberries and turnips in new garden in morn and picked up pecans in eve.

Wed. 19th. Bright but some hazy clouds all day and cool from NE. Willie and Dud and Wiley and Joe dug potatoes in patch N of here till 9 1/2 in morn and finished all and Dud and Wiley cut and stripped cane in patch N of here balance of day and finished all. Willie and Minnie drove Sandy to town in eve. I manured and finished setting out the 2 rows of white onions in new garden where Nellie and Minnie set out some time ago in morn and picked up pecans balance of day.

Thu. 20th. Clear and a cool wind from E all day but warm in sun after 10 in morn. Dud and Wiley cut green wood today. Willie rode Sandy to Surgett's to see Doug Parker about grinding his cane in morn. I trenched and manured one row in new garden and set out button onions on it in morn and watered them in eve.

Fri. 21st. Bright but some clouds and wind from SE. Willie drove wagon to Surgett's and brought Doug Parker's mill here in morn and Willie and Dud and Wiley and Doug set the pans and mill in eve. Dud and Wiley cut wood in morn. I picked up pecans most of day.

Sat. 22nd. Bright, nearly clear, and pleasant. Doug Parker and Wiley worked at mill fixing pans in morn and Dud hauled wood and cane to mill in morn and Wiley and Dud drove Sandy to town in eve. I cut chickasaw briars in hollow toward cow pen in morn.

Sun. 23rd. Bright and pleasant and dry. All went to SS in eve but Nellie and me. Gordon dined here and Cap D ate supper here.

Mon. 24th. Warm and cloudy and rained a little in eve and slowly most of night. Doug Parker cooked molasses and Willie and Dud hauled cane and wood and Wiley and Joe helped at mill today. I cut briars just S of cow pen in morn and picked up pecans in eve.

Tue. 25th. Cloudy some all day and windy from SW and a thunder cloud blew up from NW at 2 1/2 in night and we had a big rain with some thunder and wind and rained on slowly till daylight. I cut briars just S of cow pen in morn. Willie and Dud and Wiley and Joe and Doug P hauled wood and cooked molasses today.

Wed. 26th. Cloudy some all day and very wet early in morn but no rain after daylight. Willie killed a hog early in morn and Dud and Wiley cleaned it and Willie drove Sandy and Buck to Ford's and returned after dark with Carmel. Dud and Wiley and Doug Parker ground cane and cooked molasses till after dark. I picked up some pecans today. Luster came at 2 in eve and left late in eve with Lucile.

Thu. 27th. Cloudy and cool from E and rained through the night. "Thanksgiving Day" and we did nothing. I picked up some pecans.

Fri. 28th. Cloudy and sprinkled rain some in morn and rained most of eve and night too from SW and windy. They ground and cooked molasses part of day and all got wet late in eve.

Sat. 29th. It rained most of last night and a heavy cloud with some thunder blew up from NW at daylight and we had a big rain till 10 1/2 and brightened and sun shined most of eve. They began at 11 in morn and ground and cooked the molasses till dark and finished. Minnie and Carmel drove Buck and Sandy to new buggy to town in eve. I picked up one p'k of pecans after 11 in morn.

Sun. 30th. Clear and frost in morn but pleasant in sun after 10 in morn. Willie drove Sandy and Buck to new buggy to Ford's and carried Carmel to her school in morn and returned at dark. Wiley and Rena and Jack came at 11 1/2 in morn and returned in eve.
