MARCH 1915

Wed. Mar. 17th. A white frost and freeze in morn but didn't seem to kill vegetation and cloudy some in eve and warmer. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I hoed onion sets and lettuce and radishes in morn and drew water for tomorrow's washing in eve.

Thu. 18th. Bright and some frost in morn but pleasant in sunshine after 10 in morn. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I hoed peas on N side of garden and 2 strawberry middles in morn after getting wood and water for Leah to wash and I shucked corn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Fri. 19th. Bright but cloudy some all day and a cool damp wind from W of N late in eve and began to rain slowly at 8 1/2 in night and lasted till midnight and very chilly. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I hoed strawberry middles in morn and finished them and last of garden and I shucked corn and got wood and water in eve.

Sat. 20th. Bright, nearly clear, and a cold wind from W of N all day. Willie hunted cattle in Elmwood all morn. Dud broke ground. Willie and Minnie drove Sandy to town in eve and returned at dark. I patched an old chicken coop and put a frame around a bush in flower yard in morn and shucked corn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Sun. 21st. Bright and frost and a freeze in morn and a cold wind from NW all day. Willie and Minnie and children all but Carl (Nellie kept him home) went to SS in eve and Bro Ellis and T. W. Adams were there and Adams preached there.

Mon. 22nd. Clear and a very hard and killing freeze in morn and clouded up from NW after dark and sleeted and rained a little in night. Willie and Dud broke ground today after ground thawed in morn. I shucked and shelled some bread corn and got wood and water and fed and set 2 hens in eve.

Tue. 23rd. Bright but cloudy some all day and chilly from W of N. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I cut up good deal of wood in morn and shucked and shelled some bread corn and got wood and water and fed. All except Nellie and Carl and Charles and me walked to schoolhouse after dark and heard Prof Griffin talk on education.

Wed. 24th. Cloudy and a very white frost and freeze in morn but warmer in eve from SW. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I got wood and water for Leah to wash early in morn and cut up some wood and shucked and shelled some bread corn in morn and in eve too.

Thu. 25th. Bright and pleasant from SW. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I cut and packed sticks and stuck peas in garden in morn and some in eve too. I took 2 Lane's pills at 1 last night which worked me well today. I have a cold and asthma today but I slept well at night.

Fri. 26th. Bright but cloudy some all day and pleasant from SW and dry. Willie and Dud and Marion marked pigs early in morn and broke ground balance of day. I stuck peas in morn and some in eve and shucked corn and shelled some bread corn.

Sat. 27th. Cloudy and very cool from N all day and sprinkled rain some in eve at 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 . Willie and Marion and Charles went in buggy and Dud drove the mules to wagon to town in morn and returned at 1 in eve with meal and flour. I stuck peas in morn and some in eve.

Sun. 28th. Cloudy and damp in morn and bright and pleasant after 10 in morn. Annabel James here last night and today. All went to SS in eve but Nellie and Carl and Charles and me.

Mon. 29th. Cloudy some but bright and pleasant from SW. Willie and Dud and Marion planted patch E of here in corn (2nd time - chickens took up first planting) in morn and they hauled out manure from stables and put on hilltop of H ridge for a bean patch in eve. Dud rebedded late in eve. I stuck peas in morn and in eve too and finished last of them.

Tue. 30th. Cloudy all day some and sprinkled rain most of morn but bright most of eve and a thunder cloud came up from W of N at dark and we had a good rain with good deal of hail and some thunder and wind till 8 and quit. Willie and Dud broke ground today and Marion cleaned off ground. I cut up wood and shucked corn and shelled some seed corn and hoed peas in garden in eve.

Wed. 31st. Bright but cloudy some all day and very cool from N. Willie and Dud broke ground in morn and Dud in eve too and Willie planted some watermelons in eve too. Marion cleaned off ground in field in morn. I cleared up some new ground in NE corner of patch E of here for okra in morn. Willie and Carmel and Marion drove Sandy to town to Miss Lottie Kaigler's wedding late in eve and returned at 10 at night.
