JUNE 1921

Wed. June 1st. Bright and very warm in morn and rained around most of eve in thunder showers but only dropped a little here. Willie ran cultivator in peas today and Wiley and Dud ran cultivators in corn. I hoed the nest egg squashes in field early in morn and picked some dry peas in morn.

Thu. 2nd. Bright and very warm and dry and no rain in day but rained a little sprinkle in night. Willie ran cultivator in peas in morn and finished. Wiley and Dud plowed today and hands hilled cotton. I picked some dry peas in garden and tore down vines off sticks in morn. Dixie and Janie dined here and Bro Dawson here late in eve.

Fri. 3rd. Bright and very warm in morn and a cloud came up from E at 2 in eve and rained slowly here till 3 1/2 which wet ground some for it was very dry. Wiley and Dud ran cultivators in corn most of day. Willie and Charles and Carl dug the Irish potatoes in patch N of here in morn. -----picking dry peas in garden ---down most of sticks in ---.

Sat. 4th. Bright and very --- all morn and a thunder cloud came up from N of E at 2 in eve and rained slowly here till 4 1/2 in eve which wet ground some but not thoroughly. Wiley and Dud ran cultivators in morn. Willie and Charles and Carl drove Buck to town in eve. I finished taking down pea sticks and hoed some of ground in morn.

Sun. 5th. Bright and warm all morn and clouded up at 2 in eve and we had a soaking rain at 4 to 5 in E. Willie and Carmel drove Buck to Wiley's early in morn and returned at dark with Marion - left Carmel at Wiley's to go on to Clinton, Miss. to Normal. Lee and JK here today and Gordon all eve and all night.

Mon. 6th. Bright and warm all morn and rained slowly here at 2 to 5 in eve. Willie and Dud and Charles and Carl set out potatoes in Gate cut all morn and finished setting all of vines. I packed nearly a bbl of ashes in garden and put around tomatoes in NW corner of garden in morn.

Tue. 7th. Bright in morn and cloudy in eve and we had a little shower from S at 3 in eve. The hands went to old Charlie Woods burying today and didn't work. Marion drove Buck to town in morn and brought Sims here by 1 in eve. The 2 Misses Boatner here today.

Wed. 8th. Bright in morn and rained a shower form S in eve. Willie plowed corn in patch N of here in morn and little Wiley and Jack came in morn. Hands hilled cotton today. Willie and Ernest and Marion and little Wiley sawed down a bee tree in eve and got some honey. I hoed in garden in morn.

Thu. 9th. Cloudy and a damp wind from SW till 10 in morn and a thunder cloud came up then from W and we had a big rain till 11 and slowly till 3 in eve. Willie plowed corn in patch N of here till 10 in morn and Wiley and Dud ran cultivators till 10. --- some tomatoes on --- in garden in morn and we --- in eve.

Fri. 10th. Bright in morn and rained around in thunder showers most of eve and we had several little hard sprinkles here. The hands all hoed in Wiley's cotton today - too wet to plow. Willie drove Buck to town in morn and carried Sims to town to go back to Wiley's. I pulled up all of onions in garden in morn and left them there for a day or two. Marion rode Buck to a party at Ogden's at night.

Sat. 11th. Bright in morn and cloudy all eve but no rain today. Hands hilled cotton in morn. Dud rode Joe colt to town in eve and Marion and Nellie drove Buck to town in eve and took Jack to meet his Papa. I cut tops off onions which I pulled up in garden on yesterday in morn.

Sun. 12th. Bright but cloudy some all day and no rain. Little Wiley and Marion rode to B C's and back in morn and Wiley went home in eve. Gordon here in eve.

Mon. 13th. Bright and very warm and no rain. Willie plowed corn in patch N of here and in patch E of here today. Wiley and Dud ran cultivators in cotton and hands hilled cotton. Marion and Charles and Carl and I brought the onions from garden and put in gallery room early in morn and I hoed some in garden.

Tue. 14th. Bright and warm and no rain. Willie and Wiley and Dud plowed corn and Marion sowed peas. I hoed the egg squashes in field early in morn and hoed some on east side of garden.

Wed. 15th. Bright and very warm and no rain in sight. Willie and Wiley and Dud plowed corn and Marion sowed peas. I hoed in garden in morn on west side.

Thu. 16th. Bright and very warm and no rain. Wiley and Dud ran cultivators in cotton in Coon field and Willie plowed corn in home field. I hoed in garden in morn and helped Marion to get out some bread corn in eve.

Fri. 17th. Bright and very warm and no rain in sight. Willie plowed corn and Wiley and Dud ran cultivators in cotton in morn and plowed corn in eve. I hoed in garden in morn and shelled some dry beans in eve.

Sat. 18th. Bright and warm and no rain but thunder showers passed around some in eve. Wiley and Dud ran cultivators in cotton in morn. I pulled grass out of strawberries in morn. Willie drove Buck to town in eve.

Sun. 19th. Bright and very warm and no rain near but lightning in SE at night. All but Nellie and me went to SS in eve but Bro Dawson didn't come to preach.

Mon. 20th. Cloudy some all day and looked like rain but didn't. Willie plowed sugar cane today. Wiley and Dud remolded cotton today. I hoed around fruit trees in old garden in morn and bedded potatoes there too.

Tue. 21st. Cloudy and looked like rain most of day but no rain. Willie hoed in his potatoes in Gate cut today. Wiley and Dud remolding cotton. I hoed in old garden in morn.

Wed. 22nd. Bright and warm in morn and cloudy all eve and we had a little shower at 4 1/2 in eve and a good soaking rain from W at 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 in night and much needed too. Willie worked in potatoes today after he finished sowing peas in Coon field. Marion drove Buck to town in morn and carried Nellie and Charles and met little Wiley there and he took them on to Wiley's. I hoed in old garden in morn.

Thu. 23rd. Bright and windy from SW - a pleasant day. Willie and Marion and Wiley and Dud set out potatoes in Gate cut in morn. I hoed in old garden in morn.

Fri. 24th. It rained in little showers from W in morn and bright in eve. Too wet to plow. Wiley and Dud hoed in cane in field in eve. I hoed a little while in old garden in morn and got nearly wet and was sick and didn't work anymore.

Sat. 25th. Bright in morn and rained 2 or 3 little showers at 1 to 2 1/2 in eve from W and bright balance of eve. Wiley and Dud and some hands hoed Willie's cane in field in morn and Wiley and Dud drove wagon to town to mill in eve and Willie and Marion drove Buck to town in eve. I hoed in new garden in morn.

Sun. 26th. Bright most of day and little showers passed around from W but only sprinkled a little here today.

Mon. 27th. Bright in morn and thunder clouds passed around in eve but no rain here. Wiley and Dud ran cultivators in cotton and Willie worked in potatoes in Gate cut. I hoed nest egg squashes in field and hoed in new garden in morn and planted some tomatoes there.

Tue. 28th. Bright most of day but we had a good little shower at 1 1/2 to 2 in eve. Wiley and Dud ran cultivators in cotton on creek today. I hoed in old garden in morn.

Wed. 29th. Bright, most of day and no rain, but thundered far off in eve. Wiley and Dud plowed cotton in home field today. I hoed in old garden in morn. Willie and Marion and Carl drove Buck to Bro Tom's in morn and returned at dusk.

Thu. 30th. Bright and very warm most of day and thundered around most of eve but no rain here. Willie worked in potatoes in gate cut today. Wiley and Dud ran cultivators in cotton today. I hoed in old garden in morn.
