JUNE 1919

Sun. June 1st. Cloudy some but bright in morn and rained around some in eve but none here. Bernice and Rogers left in morn and Carmel went with them and Marion went to church in town.

Mon. 2nd. Warm and cloudy and we had a slow rain at 2 to 4 in eve. Willie and Marion barred off corn on creek in morn with Sandy and Buck. Dud and Wiley split middles in cotton today. I set out eggplants and hoed some in new garden on E side in morn. Cap D dined here.

Tue. 3rd. Foggy and misted rain some in morn and bright and cool from NW in eve. Dud and Wiley split middles in cotton today. Willie and Marion barred off corn on creek all day. I hoed my tomatoe patch in morn and finished it (in field).

Wed. 4th. Clear and a little cool from N. Willie and Marion barred off corn on creek in morn and Dud and Wiley split cotton middles in morn and they and Willie and Marion plowed corn in home field in eve. I hoed my watermelon patch on ditch in morn.

Thu. 5th. Bright, nearly clear, and a pleasant day. Willie and Marion and Dud and Wiley plowed corn all day. I hoed up grass where onions grew on West side of new garden in morn.

Fri. 6th. Clear and warm and no rain in sight. Willie and Marion and Dud and Wiley plowed corn all day. I hoed okra and cucumbers and squashes in new garden in morn.

Sat. 7th. Bright and warm and no rain in sight. Willie and Marion and Dud and Wiley plowed corn on creek in morn and Willie and Marion drove Buck to town in eve and Dud drove mules to wagon to town in eve and they returned at dark. I hoed in new garden in morn. Willie brought Carmel from town - she has been at Wiley's since last Sunday.

Sun. 8th. Bright and warm and no rain but a thunder cloud in sight in SE late in eve. All went to SS in eve but Nellie and Willie and me.

Mon. 9th. Bright and warm in morn from SW and rained out SE and S and SW of here in eve but none here. Willie and Marion and Dud and Wiley plowed old corn on creek and finished it at 4 in eve and Willie and Marion ran cultivators in cotton and Dud and Wiley split mids in cotton late in eve. I hoed about 1/2 of Willie's watermelon patch in morn.

Tue. 10th. Bright and very warm till 2 in eve and rained just E of here with good deal of thunder at 2 to 4 and we had a big rain here at 4 to 6. Willie and Marion ran cultivators in cotton and Dud and Wiley split middles in cotton till rain in eve and got soaking wet. I hoed last half of Willie's watermelon patch in morn and finished it. Lucile and Annabel came yesterday eve and Carmel and Annabel went to town in morn and we had ice cream at night.

Wed. 11th. Bright and very warm till 4 in eve and a thunder cloud came up just S of here and we had a slow rain here at 5 1/2 to 6 1/4 but didn't stop the plows. Willie and Marion and Dud and Wiley plowing in cotton all day. I hoed some slips in patch N of here in morn.

Thu. 12th. Bright in morn and we had a little shower at 11 in morn and a big rain at 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 in eve. Dud and Wiley split middles in cotton and Willie and Marion ran cultivators ahead of plows in morn. Johnson (machine agent) ate dinner here . I hoed in slips in patch N of here in morn.

Fri. 13th. Cloudy and rained a little early in morn and again late in eve and a damp SE wind all day. Dud and Wiley rebedded ground for slips in patches E of here and N of here in morn and plowed cane in eve. Willie and Marion set out slips (vines and sets) most of day. I hoed slips in patch N of here in morn.

Sat. 14th. Cloudy and no sun and a damp breeze from E all day but no rain. Dud and Wiley plowed cotton all day. Willie ran cultivator with Sandy in cotton in morn and he and Marion drove Buck to town in eve and returned after dark. I hoed potatoe sets in patch N of here in morn.

Sun. 15th. Cloudy and no sun but no rain. All went to SS in eve but Nellie and me and Bro Dawson preached there. Gordon dined here today.

Mon. 16th. Bright and very warm in eve. Willie and Marion ran cultivators in corn on creek today and Dud and Wiley plowed cotton in home field. Bro Tom and Cap D bought 5 steers from Willie in morn. I hoed potatoe sets in patch N of here in morn.

Tue. 17th. Bright and very warm till 3 in eve and rained around near in thunder showers at 3 to 6 and we had a hard sprinkle here. Willie and Marion ran cultivators in corn on creek today. Dud and Wiley plowed corn there in eve. I hoed potatoe sets in patch N of here in morn.

Wed. 18th. Bright and warm and no rain in sight today but lightning in NW at night. Willie and Marion ran cultivators on creek in morn and Willie in eve and Marion drove Buck to town in eve and got new well rope and bucket. Dud and Wiley molded corn on creek today. I hoed in tomatoe patch in field in morn.

Thu. 19th. Bright in morn and warm and a thunder cloud passed around S of here from SE in eve and we had a good slow rain at 5 to 8. Willie and Marion and Dud and Wiley plowed corn in morn and part of eve on creek and got wet in eve. Willie and Marion ran the cultivators. I hoed in tomatoe patch in morn in field and finished it.

Fri. 20th. Bright but cloudy some all morn and began to rain in thundershowers from SE at 2 in eve and lasted till late - a good rain in all. Willie and Marion ran cultivators on creek today and Dud and Wiley molded corn there and they got wet some in eve and quit before night. I hoed my watermelons on ditch in field in morn.

Sat. 21st. Bright but cloudy some all morn and a damp wind from E and rained around in thundershowers most of eve and we had 3 or 4 showers here. Willie and Marion and Dud and Wiley plowed corn on creek in morn. Willie and Marion drove Buck to town in eve. I hoed on East side of new garden in morn.

Sun. 22nd. Bright and rained around a little but none here. Earl dined here. All went to SS in eve but Nellie and me.

Mon. 23rd. Bright in morn and rained around some in eve but only sprinkled a little here. Dud and Wiley plowed cotton today. Willie and Marion plowed middles out of corn on creek. I hoed in new garden on East side.

Tue. 24th. Cloudy and rained in little showers from S several times in morn and in eve too but no thunder today. Willie and Marion plowed corn on creek today and got wet some in morn and again in eve. Dud and Wiley plowed cotton in home field today. I hoed in new garden on West side and some in eve too.

Wed. 25th. Cloudy and no sun and a damp S breeze and rained in little showers some in morn and some in eve too and a cloud came up from NW late in eve and we had a big washing rain till dark. Willie and Marion and Dud and Wiley plowed corn on creek today and got wet in morn and again in eve. I hoed in new garden in morn and picked some dry peas in eve.

Thu. 26th. Cloudy and no sun but no rain today. Dud rebedded some ground on creek for slips for him and Wiley in morn. Willie and Marion and Charles and I and Wiley set out the sugar cane ground in patch N of here in slips in morn and finished it. Wiley and Dud hoed cotton in eve.

Fri. 27th. Cloudy and sprinkled rain some early in morn and rained a hard rain at 11 1/2 in morn to 12 1/2. Dud and Wiley plowed corn on creek in morn and got wet. Willie and Marion thinned corn on creek in morn. I dug Irish potatoes in old garden in morn and we did nothing in eve.

Sat. 28th. Bright but sone clouds all day and no rain here but a thunder cloud in sight in NW late in eve. Dud and Wiley set out slips for themselves on creek today. Willie drove Sandy to town in morn and returned at 2 in eve. Marion rode Buck to Wiley's in eve. I dug Irish potatoes in old garden in morn.

Sun. 29th. Bright and warm till 2 in eve and a thunder cloud came up from E but only sprinkled a little here then and another came up from NW late in eve and sprinkled here again. Nellie and Charles walked to Dixie's in morn. All went to SS in eve but me but they had no school.

Mon. 30th. Bright and warm till 4 in eve and rained around some and sprinkled here a little. Willie and Dud and Wiley plowed corn on creek today. I dug Irish potatoes in old garden in morn. Marion came home from Wiley's late in eve.
