FEBRUARY 1921

Tue. Feb. 1st. It drizzled and sprinkled rain most of morn - but not enough to wet ground but little and bright and very cool from N all eve. We did nothing in morn. Wiley and Dud broke ground in

eve and Willie cleaned off ground. I planted some radishes in new garden just before dinner.

Wed. 2nd. A frost and slight freeze in morn and bright but a cold wind from N all day. Wiley and Dud plowed today and Willie cleaned off ground. I hoed up ground near wire on west side of new garden in morn.

Thu. 3rd. A frost and ice in morn but wind from S and warmer in eve and some clouds. Wiley and Dud broke ground and Willie cleaned off ground. I hoed up some ground on west side of new garden and scattered some manure there in morn. Minnie and I set 2 hens in eve.

Fri. 4th. Bright and cool in morn and warmer in eve and cloudy some and rained a sprinkle at night. Wiley and Dud broke ground and Willie cleaned off ground today. I packed manure and put between rows of onion sets on W side of garden in morn. I caught a hawk in trap toward Lanehart's today.

Sat. 5th. Bright and pleasant. Wiley and Dud drove wagon to mill today. Willie and Carmel drove Buck to town in morn and returned in eve. I hoed strawberries in garden in morn.

Sun. 6th. Bright and warm and windy from S all day and thundered far off in W most of night. All of us home all day.

Mon. 7th. It began to rain at daylight and lasted till 9 1/2 in morn - a pretty good rain and needed too - and cloudy balance of day and warm and rained some at night. Willie and Wiley and Dud didn't work in morn but they repaired wire fence next to Lanehart's in eve. I hoed up some ground in garden for peas at 10 to 12 in morn.

Tue. 8th. Cloudy and sprinkled rain some in morn and in eve too and rained some in night. Wiley and Dud broke ground today. I hoed up some ground in new garden for peas in morn.

Wed. 9th. Cloudy some all day and rained pretty hard rain at night with thunder. Wiley and Dud broke ground today. I fixed 2 rows in garden for peas in morn and planted them in eve.

Thu. 10th. It rained last night and bright and very cool from NW today. Willie and Wiley and Dud killed and cleaned and cut up 3 young hogs today and I kept up fire around pots in morn.

Fri. 11th. Clear and very cool from N - a beautiful day. Willie and Dud and Wiley planted cane and Irish potaotes in patch N of here today and finished them late in eve. I planted peas in garden in morn.

Sat. 12th. Clear and very cool from N - a beautiful and pleasant day. Willie and Minnie drove Buck to town in morn and returned late in eve. Willie and Dud broke ground in morn. I planted peas in garden in morn and finished them.

Sun. 13th. Bright, nearly clear, and a beautiful and pleasant day. Gordon dined here and Lanehart and family here awhile in eve.

Mon. 14th. Foggy early in morn and bright and pleasant most of day from W. Wiley and Dud broke ground in Coon field. Willie bedded some yams in old garden and made a martin box late in eve. I packed manure in garden and put between rows of peas, planted last week, in morn.

Tue. 15th. Foggy and wet early in morn but bright and pleasant most of day. Wiley and Dud broke ground in Coon field today. Willie drove Buck to town in eve. I hoed down mustard on east side of garden in morn.

Wed. 16th. Cloudy some all day and thundered in NW all eve and night too. Wiley and Dud broke ground in Coon field today. Willie cut a mulberry pole and dug a hole to put up a martin box but we could not put it up in eve. I hoed on east side of garden in morn.

Thu. 17th. It rained slowly here early in morn till 9 from NE and chilly all day - wind from NE and cloudy too. Dud and Wiley helped Willie to set up martin box at 9 in morn and then broke ground in Coon field balance of day. I hoed around fruit trees in old garden at 9 to 11 in morn. Ben Ford came late yesterday eve and left this eve.

Fri. 18th. Cloudy some but bright most of day and chilly from NE in morn and warmer in eve and rained a little in night. Dud and Wiley broke ground in Coon field today. Willie cleaned up ground and I planted some bush beans on W side of garden in morn.

Sat. 19th. It rained in morn from just before day till 9 in morn and turned cold from NW and cold and cloudy balance of day. We did nothing but get wood and feed today. Willie sent Dud on Buck to Ogden's store in eve.

Sun. 20th. Ice in morn but ground was not frozen and didn't seem to kill vegetation and wind from N all day and warmer late in eve and at night. Ernest D and little Mary and little Nellie dined here. All but Nellie and Charles and Carl and me went to SS in eve and Bro Dawson preached there.

Mon. 21st. Bright and very cool wind from W. Willie drove Buck to town early in morn and returned at 1 1/2 in eve. Wiley and Dud broke ground in eve in Coon field. I hoed in garden in morn and some in eve too on W side of it.

Tue. 22nd. Bright and a cold wind from S in morn and warm in eve and rained some in night. Willie and Dud broke ground today and Willie cleaned off ground. I hoed in garden in morn.

Wed. 23rd. It rained good deal last night and clear and a cold wind from W of N today. Dud and Wiley cleaned off ground today -too wet to plow. I was sick all day but better at night and did not hoe any today.

Thu. 24th. Bright, nearly clear, and frost and ice early in morn and a wind from W most of day and rained a sprinkle at night from NW. I hoed in garden in morn. Wiley and Dud broke ground today.

Fri. 25th. Bright and cool. Wiley and Dud broke ground. I hoed up ground on west side of garden in morn. Bro Tom dined here and took his little girls home late in eve.

Sat. 26th. Bright and very cool in morn and warmer in eve. Wiley and Dud broke ground in morn. I packed 4 turns of manure in garden and put it under 2 rows for pole beans in morn. Willie and Carmel drove Buck to town in eve.

Sun. 27th. Bright and cool in morn and warmer in eve. Gordon and Cap D here in eve. Willie and Minnie drove Buck to see Miss Carrie Chambers in eve.

Mon. 28th. Bright and pleasant. Willie and Wiley and Dud planted corn all day in home field. I hoed peas in garden in morn and shucked good deal of corn and shelled some seed corn.
