FEBRUARY 1915

Mon. Feb. 1st. Bright but some clouds all day and very cool from N of W. Willie cut down and cleaned off ground below old bean patch today. I cut up wood and shucked corn and fed in morn and in eve too.

Tue. 2nd. Bright, nearly clear, and a cold wind from NW but pleasant in sun after 10 in morn. Willie and Dud cleaned up ground in patch E of here in morn and in field in eve. I packed 25 baskets of pea hulls from old cotton house to old gallery room in morn and shucked corn in eve and got wood and water and fed too.

Wed. 3rd. A frost and freeze in morn and bright all day but some clouds and a damp wind from SE all day and night too. Willie and Dud cleaned off ground in field all day. I got wood for Leah to wash early in morn and packed 10 baskets of pea hulls from old cotton to gallery room and finished all in morn.

Thu. 4th. Cloudy and a damp S wind all morn and began to rain in little showers at 2 in eve and lasted all eve and till in the night - a big rain in all. Willie and Dud cleaned up ground till 3 in eve. Nellie and Rena drove Nancy to Wiley's buggy to town in morn and carried some chickens to Beulah Smith and returned at 3 in eve. I cut up wood and made some hens' nests and shucked corn in morn. Willie and I fed in rain late in eve.

Fri. 5th. Bright and cool from NW. Willie and Dud cleaned up ground today. I cut up wood early in morn and put up some wire from plum thicket to patch gate in morn (I set the posts there some time ago) and I shucked corn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Sat. 6th. Bright, nearly clear, and frost in morn and a very cool wind from NW all day. Willie and Dud cleaned up ground in morn and Willie and Carmel drove Sandy to town in eve. I cut up wood early in morn and fixed up patch gate E of here in morn.

Sun. 7th. Clear and a freeze and white frost in morn and wind from NW all day but warmer in eve. I walked to Wiley's and back in morn. Willie and Minnie and children walked to SS in eve.

Mon. 8th. Bright, nearly clear, and a freeze and frost in morn but pleasant in sun after 10 in morn. Willie and Dud worked on ditches in field in morn and they broke ground in eve (the first plowing with Sandy and Maud and Ella and Julia). I cut up wood early in morn and put a round in an A plow. I shucked corn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Tue. 9th. Bright, nearly clear, and frost in morn. Willie and Dud broke ground today with both double teams. I packed cow manure (4 turns) and put in holes in patch E of here and set 8 peach trees in the holes in morn and shucked corn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Wed. 10th. Bright, nearly clear, and frost in morn. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I planted some radishes and lettuce and mustard and turnips in garden in morn after getting wood for Leah to wash.

Thu. 11th. Bright, nearly clear, and pleasant from SE. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I cut up wood and set out some winter onions in garden in morn and shucked corn and got wood and water and fed in eve. Miss Lottie went home in eve.

Fri. 12th. Bright and pleasant from SW. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I cut up wood and planted some peas in garden in morn and shucked corn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Sat. 13th. Clear and a damp wind from S all day and sprinkled rain a little early in morn and some late in eve and we had a big rain from SW at 8 to 12 at night with some thunder. Willie drove Sandy to town in morn and returned at 12. Dud broke ground with the mules in morn. I planted some peas in garden in morn and got wood and water and fed in eve. Nora and Ernest D here at night.

Sun. 14th. Cloudy some but bright and pleasant today. Nellie and Carmel and Nora drove Sandy to Lanehart's in morn. Wiley and Rena and some of their children here in eve.

Mon. 15th. Bright, nearly clear, and very cool from NE. Willie and Dud cleaned up ground today. I set out some onion sets in garden in morn and shucked corn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Tue. 16th. Bright, nearly clear, and very cool from N. Wiley and Harrison and Willie and Dud killed and cleaned 5 sows in morn and Willie and Wiley cut up and salted the meat in eve. I helped them in morn and fixed the salt and saltpetre in eve.

Wed. 17th. Bright, nearly clear, and a frost and slight freeze in morn but pleasant in sun after 10 in morn. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I cut up good deal of wood early in morn and set out one row of onion sets in garden and planted 2 rows of Irish potatoes there in morn and 2 more in eve.

Thu. 18th. Bright, but cloudy some all day, and warmer and a damp breeze from SE. Willie and Dud broke ground in patch E of here today. I hoed some winter onions in NW corner of garden in morn and shucked corn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Fri. 19th. Bright, but cloudy some all day, and a damp breeze from SE and cool. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I cut up wood and got wood for Leah to wash early in morn and hoed some winter onions in NW corner of garden and finished them and shucked corn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Sat. 20th. Cloudy and a very damp and cool wind from SE all day and sprinkled rain some in morn and in eve too. Willie and Dud broke ground in morn and we got Kitty's spotted calf out of a bog in pasture at 7 1/2 in eve. Willie drove Sandy to town in eve. I hoed between strawberry rows (8 of them) in morn.

Sun. 21st. It began to rain from SE at 7 in morn and lasted all day with some thunder and hard showers part of time and a big fall of water in all. We fed in rain late in eve and got wood too.

Mon. 22nd. Cloudy and wet and very little sunshine and sprinkled rain most of eve and a thunder cloud came up from NW just after dark and rained a big one till late in night. Dud cleaned up ground today. Willie walked in Elmwood pasture in morn and salted our cattle and he found our horses ------- field in eve and put them back --------. I put together 2 boxes for ------ and put a handle in --- and shucked corn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Tue. 23rd. Bright and cool from NW in morn ------at night and very cool. Willie rode ------ drove the mules to wagon and ----sows to town in morn and Willie sold ----Blumenthal at 5 cts. and they returned at 1 in eve and cleaned up ground in eve. I helped with the hogs and cut up wood early in morn and shucked corn by 12 and shelled some seed corn in eve.

Wed. 24th. Bright, nearly clear, and very cool early in morn and wind from W of N. Willie and Dud cleaned up ground today. I cut up wood and got wood for Leah to wash and patched cow pen gate in morn and shucked corn and shelled some seed corn in eve.

Thu. 25th. Bright but cloudy some all day nearly cold enough for frost in morn but warmer in eve from E. Willie and Dud broke ground in eve. They worked on ditches in field in morn. I hoed strawberry middles in morn and shucked corn and shelled some seed corn in eve. Lila and little Mary and Nora and Clarence and Bernice and little Wiley and Nellie and Mary Kaigler and Rubie C ate supper here and left at 9 1/2 in night. Rubie stayed all night.

Fri. 26th. Cloudy and a cool wind from E all day and rained some in the night. Willie and Dud broke ground today. I hoed strawberry middles in morn and shucked corn and shelled some seed corn and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Sat. 27th. It began to rain at 8 in morn and lasted till 11 1/4 and quite cloudy some all eve and night too and a very cool wind from E all day. We did nothing in morn.
