DECEMBER 1915

Wed. Dec. 1st. Cloudy and no sun and sprinkled rain all morn and rained pretty hard at 2 to 3 1/2 in eve and chilly too. Willie at Wiley's most of day helping Wiley to make wagon axles. Lanehart brought Elma and children from school in eve. I picked up pecans till 10 in morn and rain stopped me then.

Thu. 2nd. Cloudy and chilly from E of N till 10 1/2 in morn and clear in eve and a cold wind from N. Willie walked over creek to hunt our cattle in morn and killed 11 birds and returned at 2 in eve. I gathered pecans most of day.

Fri. 3rd. Clear and a very white frost in morn and a killing freeze but wind from S and warmer in eve. Lewis here most of day. I gathered pecans most of day.

Sat. 4th. Cloudy some all day and sprinkled rain some early in morn and late in eve too. Willie rode Sandy to hunt cattle in morn and again in eve and saw all of them in eve. I gathered pecans in morn and patched a pair of pants in eve.

Sun. 5th. Cloudy some all day but bright and pleasant from East. I carried 3 p'ks of pecans to Wiley's in morn and he gave me an ax. Willie and children went to SS in eve.

Mon. 6th. Cloudy and a damp breeze from E and dropped rain a little early in morn. Willie cut some wood in field early in morn and swept out our chimney in eve. I packed 8 turns of stable manure in garden and dug the Irish potatoes there and set out 8 rows of onion sets (winter onions) by 2 1/3 in eve.

Tue. 7th. Cloudy all day and damp from E. Willie cut wood most of day in field. I packed 6 turns of stable manure and put under 8 rows in NE corner of garden in morn and I drew water for tomorrow's washing in eve.

Wed. 8th. Bright, nearly clear, and cool and dry from N. Willie and I shucked and shelled a little more than a bbl of shelled corn in morn. I picked up some pecans in eve.

Thu. 9th. Clear and cool and dry. Willie cut wood at back of field today. I packed 11 turns of stable manure in garden and hoed it under by 11 1/2 in morn and I hunted hens' nests in eve.

Fri. 10th. Cloudy and a damp S wind all day and dropped rain a little in eve. Willie cut wood back of our field in morn. I chopped and piled pine in field in morn. Willie and I got up the mules and cows from field late in eve.

Sat. 11th. Clear, and a very cool and dry wind from W of N all day. Willie and Marion drove wagon to town in morn and returned in eve with meal and flour. I patched up pickets on N side of garden in morn.

Sun. 12th. Bright, nearly clear, and a frost in morn and wind from N all day and chilly at night. Chunk and Earl dined here. Willie and Minnie and children walked to SS in eve.

Mon. 13th. Bright, nearly clear, and a frost in morn and wind from E of N all day. Willie hauled green wood from back of our field today. I packed 6 turns of stable manure and put in NE corner of garden (between onion rows) and set out 5 quarts of onion sets there in eve.

Tue. 14th. A white frost and freeze in morn and bright and dry and wind from SE and warmer in eve. Willie and Minnie drove Sandy to town in morn to get Christmas and returned late in eve. I chopped and piled pine in field in morn and got wood and water and fed in eve and drew water for tomorrow's washing too.

Wed. 15th. Cloudy some all day and a damp wind from SE. Nellie and Carmel drove Hal to Wiley's buggy to town in morn and returned late in eve. Willie rode Sandy to hunt cattle in morn. I chopped and piled pine in field in morn. Ruby and Elma and Carmel drove B C's mare to town to preaching at night.

Thu. 16th. Cloudy and a damp S wind all day - rained some late in the night. Willie hunted cattle in morn. I chopped and piled pine in field in morn.

Fri. 17th. It rained some before day and cloudy and very cool from NW and sprinkled rain some about sunrise and began to rain slowly at 1 1/2 in eve and rained good deal at 2 1/2 to 3 1/2. Willie and I put some of our dry cattle out on creek early in morn and I chopped pine in field at 9 1/2 to 11 1/2. Willie drove Sandy to Wiley's buggy and carried Elma to town in eve and brought Bernice home.

Sat. 18th. Clear and a very white frost and freeze in morn but calm and warm in eve. Willie went bird hunting in morn. Wiley and little Wiley and Marion went to town in morn and returned late in eve. I picked up pecans today.

Sun. 19th. Cloudy and chilly from NE and rained slowly in early part of night. Willie and Minnie and Carmel and Marion walked to SS in eve and Bro Ellis preached there.

Mon. 20th. Clear and a cold wind from N all day. Willie took his mules to Lewis' in morn and brought the gasoline pea thresher here by 11 1/2 in morn and they threshed peas all eve. Sam Woods helped Willie. I packed some stable manure in garden in morn and put between the rows of winter onions in SE part of garden.

Tue. 21st. Bright, nearly clear, and a white frost and freeze in morn but calm and pleasant in sunshine after 10 in morn. They hauled peas till late in eve and finished. I packed hulls most of morn and put in old cotton house.

Wed. 22nd. Bright, nearly clear, and a pleasant day. I got wood and water for Leah to wash early in morn and hoed winter onions in NW corner of garden by 12. Mittie Fugler came at 12 and left at 3 1/2 in eve. Willie and Charles and Elma went to town in buggy in eve.

Thu. 23rd. Bright and pleasant. Willie and Marion and I killed and dressed a young sow shoat in morn and I hoed some in garden till 12 1/4. Nellie and Minnie cooked cakes in eve.

Fri. 24th. Cloudy and no sun and a damp wind from SW and rained a little late in eve and blew up from NW early in night and rained a pretty hard shower and turned cold. Willie cut up good deal of wood early in morn. I chopped pine in field all day.

Sat. 25th. Clear and a cold wind from N all day but pleasant in sun after 10 in morn. Wiley and family and Mamie Kaigler here most of day.

Sun. 26th. Clear and a white frost and freeze in morn but wind from S and cloudy in eve and good deal warmer. Nellie and Marion and Charles and Carl at Wiley's most of day. Willie sick with cold and in bed most of day.

Mon. 27th. Cloudy and a damp S wind and rained some late in eve and most of night - a good rain in all. Willie sick in bed all day and took pills at night. I chopped pine all morn in field and got wood and water and fed in eve.

Tue. 28th. It rained nearly all day and into the night - a big fall of water in all, from NW late in eve and at night and chilly. Willie still in bed but better today. I did nothing but get wood and feed.

Wed. 29th. Cloudy and quite cool till 10 in morn and clear and pleasant balance of day. I got wood and water for Leah to wash early in morn but she didn't come and Marion and I cut up some wood and I picked up 1/2 p'k of pecans by dinner. Gordon dined here. Willie better and up today.

Thu. 30th. Cloudy and no sun all day and a damp breeze from SE and rained some early in night. Earl got our mules and wagon early in morn and carried a load of hogs to town. Willie rode Sandy to hunt cattle in morn. I chopped pine in field in morn.

Fri. 31st. Cloudy and a damp breeze from SE all day. I chopped pine in field in morn and got wood and water and fed in eve. Mr. and Mrs. Lanehart here in eve.
