AUGUST 1921

Mon. Aug. 1st. Bright and very warm till 4 in eve and a cloud came up near from SE but no rain here. I hoed around fruit trees in old garden in morn. Steve Dawson here awhile in eve.

Tue. 2nd. Bright and very warm till 3 1/2 in eve and a cloud came up then from S and we had a little shower and bright late in eve. Willie and Carmel drove Buck to town in morn and returned at 2 in eve. Nellie and Charles and Carl walked to Dixie's in morn. I hoed around some fruit trees in old garden in morn.

Wed. 3rd. Bright and very warm and no rain in sight. I hoed around fruit trees in old garden in morn and finished them. Willie and Marion gathered some pears in old garden early in morn and Ray Hampton took them to town in his buggy and sold them.

Thu. 4th. Bright and very warm and no rain in sight. Marion and I pulled down 2 bean arbors in garden in morn. Willie plowed up some of ground there for turnips with Buck.

Fri. 5th. Bright and very warm and no rain in sight. Carrie Lanehart and Helen Coon here all day and Carmel went home with them late in eve. Mrs. James and Mattie and Lucile and Annabel came in a car at 11 1/2 in morn and took Minnie back home with them late in eve.

Sat. 6th. Bright and very warm and no rain in sight. Willie drove Buck to town in morn and returned at 12. I hoed in garden in morn.

Sun. 7th. Bright and very warm and no rain in sight. Marion and Carmel drove Buck to town to preaching at night.

Mon. 8th. Bright and very warm till 2 1/2 in eve and a thunder cloud came up near from NE but no rain here. Lucile and Katie and Annabel James brought Minnie home in a car in morn and all here all night. I hoed in new garden in morn and was sick all morn.

Tue. 9th. Bright and very warm till 3 in eve and a cloud came up from NE and we had a pretty good shower here but not half enough. I pulled grass out of strawberries in morn. Lucile and Katie and Annabel went home after the rain in eve. Carmel and Marion drove Buck to Ogden's to a Sociable at night. I hoed in garden in morn. Willie drove the new horse to town in morn.

Wed. 10th. Bright and very warm in morn and rained around some in eve but none here. I hoed in garden in morn and was sick most of day. Cousin Mary and Lila here in eve.

Thu. 11th. Bright and very warm and no rain but rained around some in eve. I hoed in garden in NE corner in morn. Marion drove the new horse to town in morn and brought Rembert and Marion Johnson here in eve.

Fri. 12th. Bright till in eve and a cloud came up from SE and we had a good hard shower at 5 to 5 1/2 which wet ground some but not enough. I hoed in garden in morn. Wiley and Dud split pine wood this week. Marion rode the new horse to Bill Ferguson's to a dance at night.

Sat. 13th. Bright and very warm in morn and rained around some in eve but none here. I hoed in garden in morn. Willie and Marion Johnson drove Buck to town in morn.

Sun. 14th. Bright and warm in morn and we had a good rain at 3 to 5 in eve which wet ground pretty well but not thoroughly. Gordon and Lev dined here and Rembert and Marion Johnson here too.

Mon. 15th. Bright and very warm in morn and clouded up from NW at 1 1/2 in eve and we had a good rain till 2 1/2 - enough to wet ground well - and bright balance of eve. Wiley hauled 2 loads of brick from town today. Willie drove Snap to town in morn.

Tue. 16th. Bright most of day and wind and clouds from W and no rain. Wiley hauled 2 loads of brick from town today. Willie planted some turnips in garden in morn. I was sick in morn.

Wed. 17th. Bright in morn and we had a little shower of rain at 2 in eve from NW and bright balance of eve. Wiley hauled 2 loads of lumber from town today. Willie and Marion whitewashed today. I picked some butter beans and gathered some tomatoes in garden in morn.

Thu. 18th. Bright all day and very warm from NW. Wiley hauled 2 loads of lumber from town today. Marion carried Rembert and Marion Johnson to town in morn to go to Mrs. James'. I hoed late tomatoes in garden in morn.

Fri. 19th. Bright and very warm from N and no rain in sight. I got some tomatoes and helped to pick some butter beans in garden in morn. Wiley hauled a load of lumber from town in morn and 2 loads of sand from creek in eve.

Sat. 20th. Bright most of day and very warm but sprinkled rain a little in eve. Wiley and Dud drove wagon to town to mill in morn and Willie drove Snap to town in morn. I got some tomatoes from garden in morn and wormed all of tomatoes there too.

Sun. 21st. Bright and very warm and no rain here but a rain out SW of here in eve. Carmel and Marion stayed at Lanehart's last night and today and at night again. Lanehart and wife gone away.

Mon. 22nd. Bright and very warm in morn and rained a little shower here in eve from NE. Wiley hauled lumber from town today. Willie and Marion tore down the 2 east rooms of house today.

Tue. 23rd. Bright and very warm and no rain today. Lewis Dawson came early in morn and he and Willie and Marion worked all day on the 2 new rooms and got foundation laid.

Wed. 24th. Bright and very warm till late in eve and a thunder cloud came up from E and we had a good rain with some wind and hail which cooled air good deal. Lewis here all day and they worked on new rooms.

Thu. 25th. Bright and very warm till 4 1/2 in eve and a thunder cloud came up from NE then and we had a big shower of rain till 5 1/2. Lewis here all day and he and Willie and Dud worked on the rooms all day. Wiley hauled a load of shingles in morn.

Fri. 26th. Bright and warm all day and no rain today. Lewis and Willie and Dud and Marion worked on the new rooms today and Wiley hauled 2 loads of lumber from town. Marion and Carmel came home from Boatner's in morn. A car came in eve and brought Mrs. James and Luster and Mrs. Maggie Johnson and little Maggie and all left late in eve but Mrs. Johnson and little Maggie.

Sat. 27th. Bright and warm and no rain. They didn't work on the new rooms today. Willie and Marion drove Snap to town in morn and Willie rode Snap to hunt cattle in eve. I got some tomatoes from garden in morn.

Sun. 28th. Bright and warm and no rain. Mrs. Johnson and little Margaret still here. Joe Boatner here in eve and till 9 1/2 in night.

Mon. 29th. Bright and warm in morn and cloudy and thundered around some in eve but no rain here. Lewis and Willie and Marion worked on the 2 new rooms today and Dud helped them in eve - he plowed the Irish potatoes in morn. I hoed late tomatoes in garden in morn.
